EDR pulled up by the looks of it, hope all is well. Ontheropes well back in 4th, probably what those with NHC slips wanted? Neither will be winning a Gold Cup.

might sound like a wacky suggestion, but what do people make of fiddlerontheroof? Think he would have won if he didnt get impeded by that faller, stable seems to be back in good form now with the appointment of Brendan Powell as stable jockey perhaps an E/W bet for this?

Edr has surely gone wrong

Was tanking along, then suddenly falls back and pulled up

If that is the case hopefully nothing serious

Had plenty of time to get past, just doesn't overly like winning

Doesn't have the class for a gold cup

Good grade 3 grade 2 horse but not grade 1 level imo

On first viewing looked like a mistake at the same fence as Enrillo’s fall.

….just listening to ITV the jockey said something along the lines of it ‘shortening up’ and I got the impression she blamed the going.

EdR now 66-1 for GC with 365 & PP.

I wonder if having to start there on the outside after all the Irish horses went to look at the first before lining up, should be taken into effect here. I wouldn't give up on EDR completely yet. I'd like to hear what Rachel Blackmore has to say and then HDB before giving up on him.

Eklat de Rire prepped for this on heavy at Wexford. We already know the stat that Gold Cup winners never run on heavy during the season. I hardly think it's ideal prep for a Hennessy either.

Though the default reaction is to think Eklat de Rire had to be winning that to win or feature in a Gold Cup.

Djakadam went off fav on just142 and finished a disappointing 8th. Then of course came back to finish 2nd in the Gold Cup that March.

Imagine he could look at taking in the Thythes, as Djakadam did (and won) as well, where there should be plenty of cut in the ground.
Which does look to be what he really needs.

I think he's underrated but for me he's more a horse who mostly runs well in good races rather than wins them.

The problem with Eklat de Rire for this race is that he didn't have any experience of competitive big field races: only a couple of double figure field maiden hurdles.

Same though there a few silver linings feel like last 2 weeks or so have to be a net negative for my antepost book. Frustrating but hopefully just variance, and tomorrow can be the start of an upswing :watermelon:

I like the positive thinking, hopefully it's just a blip for us !

Fans of RPRs might like to explain how Champ is rated higher than Kemboy!

Never got the respect he deserves because he doesn’t like or is not suited by a certain racecourse with a festival in March - Kemboy that is
