Envoi, Asterion and Andy all entered up at punchestown on Sunday.

Think I will do a number of EW acca's including Asterion @ 33/1. I think EA will beat him (if they both line up), but I think AF will give him something to think about and something has to finish 2nd and 3rd. 33's seemed big.

Will envoi really run?

Will have a big penalty for his grade 1 novice win

the flogas maybe in a few weeks at leopardstown would spring to mind

Not sure just how much (have read 11lb) but Winter Escape won this race two years ago with a 7lb penalty for winning a Grade 3.

That means one of Gordon's other two entries, Andy Dufresne, would have to carry a 7lb penalty.

Chatham Street Lad won a Grade 3 handicap at Cheltenham, not sure if that means a 7lb penalty or not (given it was a handicap) but assume it does.

Isn’t the Flogas in a couple of weeks? I reckon he will send EA there instead. Giving AF 11lbs would be a tough task :ghost:

Brilliant placing from Mullins.
If he forces Gordon to go to Dublin.
Job done.

Having to give Asterion 11lbs on a right handed track would be very difficult , would have to put up a serious performance to do so. Not what Elliot would have wanted anyway a tough task like this so close to March and the fact he won't be fully ready to go.

If he gives him 11lbs the weekend I reckon its a harder race than he will face come March with the weight.

Asterion could well be fully wound up depending if WP is planning to send him over in March or not.

Willie might be softing EA up for March :welcoming: Lets see if either blink before the weekend!

Makes you think that Willie is on a fact finding mission taking on Envoi in Ireland. Beat him or give him a real race with AF and that's his ticket booked for Cheltenham. Runs no race, jumps bad etc then they stay put in Ireland for the season. I really do like the move. Nice to see high profile horses taking each other on in trials for a change.

Is it his ticket booked if he runs well? He still won't have raced left handed since the Supreme.

Yep spot on, anyone on those to remain unbeaten RABs this will be as hard as anything to date if Asterion is anything like his debut win in receipt of a lump.

Imagine if Envoi beats him giving that weight:love_heart:

It'd be some race to be fair but I think GE might dodge it.

Cant see EA running next race anywhere other than Flogas in DRF at the beginning of February. Grade 1 over 2ml 5f won by Faugheen last year

The main concern will be jumping right handed not racing left handed, he raced left handed well enough at Leopardstown.

Jumps straight enough and runs well Sunday he'd go Cheltenham, jumps noticeably out to the right then would probably return back to Punchestown later in the season. From what I've seen of his jumping this season it hasn't been that bad so maybe they've done plenty of work trying to rectify it at home.

There's the Grade 1 novice chase at Fairyhouse over the Easter weekend that I think they'll target instead of Cheltenham.
