I mentioned that a while back FM, looked completly done in at the end, needed stepladders to get over the last, would be an amazing recovery to come and even run well in this, never mind win, big weight too

I don’t disagree, but I know or two within the NTD yard were toying with the idea of supplementing him for the Gold Cup when the ground looked like it was going to turn up soft so he must be showing enough at home to suggest he has revovered very well....

Interesting isty, suppose he would be a player if that's correct, I wouldn't back him personally though. Having said that I'm not a big player in this, just interest only betting, and nothing carrying over 11st 5lbs, there are much better races at the meeting for a decent punt for me, but I like it as a spectacle

They would have been better off running in the Gold Cup than going to Haydock for the national trial. I can't understand why they decided to go down that route.

Aye. He's a top horse, and who knows, he very well may win the National, but I'll wait to be surprised personally. That was gruelling stuff
 
Added Maggio 100/1 ew 0.5pts.

He has good Aintree form having won the 3 mile handicap chase on national day a couple of years ago by 12 length. Recent form and his age is slightly off putting but he's 100/1 so there is going to be a fair few negatives.

I predicted 4.8 to 5.0 going reading some time last week and said then 'mud larks only need apply'. I really fancy Road To Riches and Houblon Des Obeaux.
 
I wouldn't be so sure, after tomorrow very little rain due and with warming temperatures I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up with half decent ground....
 
Can't help but feel that Elliott and the Irish Trainers Title may have cost Willie a Grand National with Bellshill. He'd have been off 8lb lower and likely on better ground.

After a pair of NRs, I'm down to Seeyouatmidnight and Minella Rocco. I may now wait until closer to the day.
 
A quick look back through previous results and Pleasant Company could be interesting and he fits a profile I like. He got around the course last year (9th) and is 4lb lower. Willie has also said that he goes for the race alongside Total Recall and Childrens List.

Ucello Conti is one I like as well but I don't think he can win.

Regal Encore fits the same profile as PC and he was 8th last year.

Vieux Lion Rouge is a couple of pounds lower and he's got around twice. He's 33/1 and went off 12/1 last year.

Leaning towards Pleasant Company as my 3rd pick

I’ve got a small play on Cogry at big odds on the exchanges who is number 58 but assuming it will be a bridge too far
 
I thought Splash of Ginge would get a run and he's currently 56 but it might be tight
