2016 Supreme Novices

Min will win....good luck to all who got the early prices!

I missed the prices on min so have to find something else.

Min clocked a time circa 4s quicker than Douvan in the same race. Also, Douvans race was run on soft ground whereas Mins was on Heavy.

I know little about race timings so not sure if that can be taken on face value but interesting all the same.

how about Buveur D’Air

Buveur D’Air, who won on his hurdling debut at Newbury, is in work and we’re just waiting to run him again. He could run in the Dovecote (a race we have won three times in 12 years, including with Flown who went onto win the Supreme hurdle in 1992). The plan is for Buveur D’Air to join Altior at Cheltenham in March.

I'm not into times either and they generally only indicate the pace of the race rather than how good a horse is, stick Usain Bolt against me in a 100m race and I assure you he wouldn't have to dip under 10 seconds to win !

The problem with Min is that he will always be shorter than he should given the Mullins army and record in the race.
I'm not saying he won't win but 6/4 seems ridiculously short about a horse who has beaten very little, the second yesterday is 1 from 7 in NH races.

There are some seriously talented horses intending to run in this and for one horse to own such a chunk of the market has to be wrong.
Altior, Yorkhill, Belshill, Tombstone, Supasundae, Moon Racer (if he makes it), all demand a little more respect in my opinion, some have also recorded successes in a higher grade that the fav.

Great that a few in here have big price vouchers and this is only my view but this seems like a classic case of bookies running scared....

Final got to see Min's race from yesterday. It really looked like Ruby was just a passenger throughout most of the race. He had a good hold but Min was off and away.
He looked very impressive all around. Fantastic jumping and when ruby finally got him to settle to get a breath into him, when the field closed up ruby let out an inch of reign and Min just shot off again. I know it was a weak race but I was impressed.
But in saying that Min will have to settle quicker in the Supreme and if he does I honestly can not see him getting beaten.

I'm very excited about this horse. My vouchers aside (11s, 8s, 5s and 3s) he just looks to have everything. A gallop, great jumping, turn of foot. Mullins and his team of 'scouts' are a credit for finding these horses year in year out. His French form was nothing to be excited about people kept saying - but THEY could see the potential in a young developing horse.

remarkable bit of spotting

How can any horse be such a short price for a race in which so little is known about so many of the contenders? I can see him being turned over just like Dunguib was

I dont care about what it beat, Min visually looks the part just like Douvan and Vautour did and it wudnt surprise me if it sluiced up.

looking and doing are two diffrent things and it wouldnt suprise me if it finished unplaced

I think the price is probably driven by weight of money ...punters have short memories and after 3 in a row they now expect a ricci/mullins/walsh winner every year in the supreme. he does look good and they know how to do it but i couldnt back at present price.

Ive backed Yorkhill for the race but if you werent impressed with Min's jumping and the speed of the beast then what would impress you.

I am not a minion just yet. Horses who pull that hard usually dont win at Cheltenham. If i had the big prices ( jealous as ****) I would deffo be laying a bit off.

Agree Mayo. He needs to settle much quicker. Ruby just could not get him settled as hard as he tried. Min just had other ideas. But the pace in the Supreme should be a strong enough that will allow him to settle quicker. Just like she. We saw Vautour and Douvan early in their careers the question will also be how much will Min find off the Bridal.
I also completely agree with others statements that the value in Min has now gone. Would have any bit of the double figure prices but just pulled the trigger too late.

I've got some of the bigger prices on Min in several multiples but I think he is beatable. He jumps very nicely but he'll need to settle better than he has in his first two races to win a supreme.

I'm convinced he is a short price as the bookies are desperate to minimise the potential losses on a Mullins clean sweep on day one, rather than the liabilities they have on him alone.

Yep, good point that, so many will look for Mullins yankees and accas and not so many are prepared to wait until the Arkle for their interest to begin, Min looks like being the stables main hope in the Supreme and as such will be entered on thousands of slips with Douvan, Annie Power, Faugheen etc, they don't need to offer any value because punters will enter Mins name regardless of how little value his odds represent...

Exactly Istabraq. The shorter the price, the bigger the certainty.......well that's what some people think like.
