2015 Neptune Novice Hurdle

Timeform putting NC in Neptune too

The race that could have a wider impact is the Deloitte Novice Hurdle, won last year by Vautour and the year before by Champagne Fever. Nichols Canyon defied the Mullins pecking order, making all in a good time and doing some fairly heavy damage to stablemate Alvisio Ville’s substantial reputation in the process. On the form of the race itself Nichols Canyon has been rated 146p, but as the p implies it’s easy to see him doing better on a bigger stage next time. He’d only ever be the second string behind Douvan (156P) in the Supreme but would probably stay the trip in the more open Neptune, for which he’s now contesting favouritism with Parlour Games (146).

Does anyone know anything about Kilcrea Vale? He looked mightily impressive at Market Rasen and his odds were slashed once the entries were out and this is his only entry at Cheltenham.

Thank you. I noticed he was entered at Market Rasen last Tuesday before it was called off and also the race West Wizard got beaten in at Kempton. He was bought at the same sale, by Anthony Bromley, as where he bought Josses Hill for connections the year before.

Welcome to the board Tenty.

Ruby wants the Neptune for NC ....unless he switches with Douvan ;)

Walsh said: "Nichols Canyon won the Deloitte Novice Hurdle, which rode a good race. They went a good gallop and he was keen enough, but he jumped super and he quickened up well, and saw out the trip.

"Which race he will run in at the festival, I don't know but Graham Wylie also owns Shaneshill and Black Hercules so a discussion has to be had about where they all have the best chance of winning."

Nichols Canyon is 10-1 for the Supreme, 7-1 for the Neptune and 14-1 for the Albert Bartlett, and Walsh added: "I think he is likely to be over two miles to two and half - he stayed well on Sunday, but I can't see three miles."

Welcome to all the newbies.

More Ruby

Nichols Canyon did it the hard way from the front in the Deloitte Novice Hurdle – another race that has thrown up the Supreme Novices Hurdle winner in Vautour and Champagne Fever. We’ll have to wait and see what owner Graham Wylie wants to do because he’ll have a couple of contenders for the Supreme and the Neptune Novices Hurdle but Nichols Canyon could be versatile.

Whilst we're looking at ones that may of dipped below the radar, he's certainly not as much of a mystery as BoB but I wondered if anybody had an opinion on Ordo Ab Chao for this race?

I think he's a very genuine progressive horse with some good bits of form that at 20/1 could be more than fair value....

Has anyone seen any quotes to which race BoB is pointed at? Interesting horse, just not sure how he will cope with the faster hilly track.

I quite like Ordo Ab Chao. Proved he handles the track and WH seems to get a good tune out of him.

Beast Of Burden after he booked his place at Cheltenham with an impressive display at Bangor on Friday.

The six-year-old won over three miles at the North Wales venue to add to his victory over two miles at Ffos Las.

Not surprisingly, he holds entries in all three novice hurdles at the Festival.

Though Curtis won the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle over three miles with At Fishers Cross in 2013, the shorter two-mile-five-furlong trip of the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle could be tempting.

"He was very impressive. He'll go straight to Cheltenham now for one of the novice races. We'll decide nearer the time and I wouldn't mind dropping him back in trip," she said.

"He's a lovely prospect. Chasing's his game really an
