Smashed in! Hes mentioned a few though.Theflyingking given an Albert Bartlett mention by Gordy in his latest stable tour.
Edit ignore that! I was looking at ante post market and then nrnb!! Thought he was cut!Smashed in! Hes mentioned a few though.
Im hoping he runs in the turnersDoes nobody think Sober could be Townends ride in the supreme? He won easily enough (against shite) but for a first run wasn't a bad effort considering he's an ex flat horse
Yep, as expected i would have thought.Sounds like for elliot
El cairos is the main supreme horse and skylight hustle the main turners horse
Then ballyfad coukd be in either, perhaps depending on ground
But youd imagine jack will be on the first 2
Sober Glory 148
Interesting rating, I hadn't had him down as a contender but he's achieved a good rating. Somewhat over my head though, maybe that will come back to bite me.
Mentioned horse had an issue with its jaw too(fracture I think), not been out since he ran against I'll Sort That, thought his head carriage after the last that day was him being ungenuine, I expect that was when he hurt his jaw hence not going through with his effort when Jack got hold of him, would make sense imo.Theflyingking given an Albert Bartlett mention by Gordy in his latest stable tour.
Was it not theflyingking that there was rumours about him being injured when he hit his head off a door at home?Mentioned horse had an issue with its jaw too(fracture I think), not been out since he ran against I'll Sort That, thought his head carriage after the last that day was him being ungenuine, I expect that was when he hurt his jaw hence not going through with his effort when Jack got hold of him, would make sense imo.
What are the thoughts on Sober Glory? He's won three races this season in the style of a very good horse, and the times seem to back that up. I think slow ground helps him and we're almost guaranteed slowish ground on day 1.
Not sure what happened to him at Sandown, as he just didn't show up, but the two races since back up what I thought he might be when he ran at Chepstow.
I doubt the 16/1 will tempt many but I can see him running a really solid race and getting in the mix. I still think he should have been tried over further as it could easily bring more improvement,
I personally dont like backing horses off the back of time figures and winning distances against poor horses etc. I think its all pretty meaningless imo. What are the thoughts on Sober Glory? I'm generally wary of horses who regularly beat up on average animals rather than take on classier opposition. What are the thoughts on Sober Glory? I think the main thing to take from that run on Saturday was the runner up, Harry was very good, he realised he wasn't getting to the winner and allowed his horse to get beat half the straight, every chance the handicapper will overreact and he'll head for a valuable handicap somewhere later this season on a very favourable mark.
Hobbs would also concern me, I know they have made changes down there but the Supreme is a big boys race...
Sorry to rehijack, but a man of great culture I see. Westside Cowboy going to the moon this year - saw them support Blondshell and they were magic. So it really is a mix of stuff. A lot of alternative/indie. A lot of emerging artists. Some more established artists like Nothing but Thieves, Bad Omens, PierceThe Veil. I like rock but not cookie cutter stuff
There’s a HUGE amount of young talent coming out of Ireland at the moment…bands like Florence Road, Bleech 93, Brooki (her voice is insane), Theatre, Clifford’s, Cabl and many many more and more established acts like Just Mustard and New Dad.
Getting a vinyl,of a band right at the start of its career that you believe has potential can be like investing in a novice hurdler before it makes its debut. Florence Road for example released an EP called Fall Back. They made 500 and now you can’t find one for less than £250. Keo released an EP called Siren and a signed copy of one of them goes for a similar amount and these are bands that aren’t household names yet (they will be).
Other emerging bands to watch out for
Racing Mount Pleasant, Westside Cowboy, Maruja, I Promised The World,Die Spitz,Overpass. Wisp and many many many more
There’ are so many parallels between vinyl collecting and building an ante post portfolio. At the moment I only buy something that I enjoy listening to so I’m not yet at the equivalent of building a book but a bit like backing a horse that you don’t fancy in order to lock in a profit there are obvious vinyl investment opportunities that would guarantee a profit even if you don’t like the music. I just can’t bring myself to go there yet.
And following on from what Durham Edition said…finding the right variant from the right supplier is a big part of the appeal.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.
It does look a stacked Supreme too, you’d have wanted to have seen him against some decent horses by the time the tapes go up no ?If Hobbs has a good horse he's good at getting them to peak on the big day. Menorah won this for him back in the day.
Understand the concerns from you and others. perhaps he'll drift to a decent each way price if the sexier horses turn up.
Yep, I'd have liked him to have run in deeper company. Not sure if they've deliberately avoided good horses - It was annoying that they split the January Newbury race into two divisions, as he'd have come up against Hendo's Fire Warning. It does look a stacked Supreme too, you’d have wanted to have seen him against some decent horses by the time the tapes go up no ?
