I think it's a bit of hindsight talk after mydaddypaddys defeat to say that old park star is the only other English novice to look a monster this season. I think he's just the one that we're yet to know how good he is. If you genuinely didn't rate mydaddypaddy in the same bracket, then fair enough, but you seem to be the minority given mydaddypaddy was half the price.
And that's the point I'm making. Mydaddypaddy literally could not have been more visually impressive than he was. He did everything well to the eye, and looked like he could have won by much further if he wanted. I wouldnt have been surprised if he was a champion hurdle horse, but also wouldnt have been surprised if he was a handucapper. As its all about what hes actually beating. He takes a rise in class, and is instantly beaten. So imo, if that can happen with him, it can happen with every British novice. We can talk about how visually impressive mossy fen looked, but it's nothing that wasn't being said about mydaddypaddy.
And I think the point about had mullins trained him to win the way he did yesterday, he'd be much shorter, isn't really true either. I'd point out le divin enfant, who beat trees by miles on first run for mullins. People realise it was a poor maiden by irish standards at a smaller track, so kept him at a decent price. Regardless of how good it looked visually. The thing is, the maidens being ran at the bigger tracks in the UK are about as strong as le divin enfants maiden, so they shouldn't be cut drastically for winning them either, just like he wasn't.
