General Chat

Saw a video yesterday from Seven Barrows.
Looks like SIR GINO is well, great news.

Does anybody have any videos from it ?
Looked like an open day

Cheers

So Ben Pauling says that The Jukebox Man is 60/40 Ryanair/Gold Cup this season and he sees him more as a 2027 Gold Cup horse!….…yet he will be 8 at this seasons Festival and surely trends show that a 9 year old tacking the Gold Cup for the first time isnt necessarily the best strategy? Isn’t the trend nowadays towards 7 and 8 year olds for GC’s?

I have backed him ante post for the 2026 GC, so maybe somewhat biased, but why Ryanair for a second season chaser who won the Kauto Star in their first seasons chasing and was seen as a ‘stayer’ as a hurdler, running in the AB rather than Gallagher? Also last years Ryanair winner Fact to File was pretty impressive, may target the race again for a number of reasons, so I’d respectively suggest that the GC looks more open a race, although I know you shouldn’t fear one horse etc.

Pauling does have Handstands in his stable, whose season is apparently being geared towards the GC as a second season chaser, although I can’t see this as having an impact on The Jukebox Man’s target surely?

The Jukebox Man’s early target is apparently the King George (which i have also backed him for) and if successful, then my feeling (hope) is that plans may change towards his Festival target, so at present I am not going to rush to cash out my stake and rather hold the line.

Any intel/view to counter or support would as always be welcomed

I really like The Jukebox Man, love his style and connections

As much as I want to see this horse run well in a King George and GC, I can see him being outclassed in the KG and then reverting back to the Ryanair

He ran in a weak AB, being outstayed in bad conditions, and since they he’d continued to show his pace. I think they would have ran him in the Marsh/JLT if that was around last season.

Just think he’s marginally better version of The Real Whacker, sadly, although I’d love to see this horse excel this season

Injury aswell… not a fan of horses coming back from a noticeable injury

Featured in the Racing Post today .. News Report , no video as far as i know. ??.

Sir Gino is alive and has 4 legs. I’d be surprised if we saw him out before Christmas and as a one time runner over fences in a novice, he’s not one for me.

Emmett Mullins and Gavin Lynch , talking Horses - for the upcoming season ..
- video on Youtube .
about half an hour or so long , ( after the Charity Bikeride is discussed ) ., for those interested.
Emmet Mullins or Emmet Kennedy?

I don’t think think the jukebox man stays 3miles+ he just about gets 3miles on tracks like kempton. I think he’s a great bet e/w for the Ryanair at 33/1

Would he beat Impaire et Passe or caldwell potter?

If F2F turns up, you're playing for 2 places max to start off with, I'd strongly fancy IEP to beat TJM myself so not much room for error

I would expect IEP may only run if F2F doesn’t. They’ll just head to aintree again with him. Agree F2F more than likely wins the Ryanair again and as a book builder I have him backed already so nothing wrong with a 33/1 e/w alternative. Caldwell potter may be campaigned as a gold cup horse depending on how early season targets work out. I’d rather take the 33s TJM than the 14s CP.

Why would IEP dodge the festival?

Reason he didn't go this year was due to the Turners being scrapped.

He could have still tried the banc if they really wanted to run but they chose to leave him off and go to aintree instead.
If the Mullins camp feel F2F is a certainty there’s a good chance they’ll stick to the tried and tested route with IEP.
I’m not saying he’s a bad bet at all I think the winner will come from F2F (obvs most likely) IEP and TJM. Cover the three and collect. If F2F turns up he’ll win again but I do feel it could be close between the other two.

Don’t forget Spillanes Tower

Maybe IEP didn’t run in the BANC because Willie had the odds on fav in it?

I don’t think so and the ratings support this, therefore I think the GC is the easier race for TJM IMO, with a lot of the market, apart from the fav, over the trend age for winners

Obviously though the KG performance will be the key race to decide any Festival options

In view of his injury do we think he'd be more likely to stay over Hurdles initially?

Has Willie said Kopek will definitely be going over fences ?? Before last season started his owners were all in for him being a Champion Hurdle horse this season. What's changed??
