General Chat

A little update on this, I've just got my results back for it and achieved a first class which I'm buzzing with.

If anyone wants to give it a read, feel free to send me a message and I'll send you a link with a download to the PDF:)
Finished reading it over the weekend!! Insane amount of research and work.. not a chance in hell I could have done that! Brilliant!!

Anyone having an issue with 365?

I've had bets settled, cashed out and balance has disappeared o_O

No one has got into your account have they?

I know PP/BF had breaches in their security and a pal last year had his PP hacked and they cashed out all his festival antes and withdrew the money to a different card somehow

India 2/1 to win this test on BFX is a mad price in my opinion.

What's the consensus on Nicky Henderson as a top trainer now? I've basically given up on him (at Cheltenham, at least) after the past few years. I've always been a massive fan of his but I think the end might be near. Loved to be proven wrong but there have been so many excuses for poor performances and horses with bags of potential not delivering. Con Hill, Jonbon (at Cheltenham) Jet Powered, Jeriko Du Reponet, Kientzheim, Minella Premier never appeared, Sir Gino missing 2 festivals. That's just off the top of the head, I'm sure there are more. You have to wonder how these horses would have fared with a different trainer. From an ante post proposition, I can't back any of his any more. Maybe Jango Baie for the Ryanair but that will be a late decision. I just feel his crown has slipped and I don't think he has the time as a trainer to get it back. Paul Nicholls has had a bit of a mare the past few years but I see green shoots of recovery with him and I think he has a good chance of getting back up there now he has changed his buying options.

Interesting. The advice I was given many years ago was never have a horse with a trainer with grey hair.
He’s had a bit of bad luck, but probably time to hand over the reins
Personally would not back any of his horses antepost for festival. Lulamba and sir Gino monumental lays for me

I got Sir G in a nice little roll up but for small stakes. One win next season and you not seeing them odds again.

I'd want a big price for a run nevermind a win. One of the worst prices of the week imo.

And roll ups don't change that.

Changes made in Ireland

The National Hunt Provisional Summary for September to December is now online and includes a number of changes to the National Hunt Pattern programme.

The National Hunt Pattern Committee has met twice this year to review the National Hunt Pattern programme and made a number of recommendations following their June meeting. These recommendations were accepted by the HRI Programmes Committee at their meeting last week and will come into effect this season.

The Grade 1 Christmas Novice Steeplechase (2m 1f) will return to the Leopardstown Christmas programme, with the Grade 1 Faugheen Novice Steeplechase at Limerick’s Christmas meeting being run over an extended distance of 2m 5f. The Grade 1 Fort Leney Novice Steeplechase (3m) at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting has been deleted.

In 2023, the decision was taken by the National Hunt Pattern Committee, and subsequently approved by the HRI Programmes Committee, to reduce the number of Grade 1 Novice Steeplechases in the Christmas Novice Steeplechase programme from three to two, to increase competitiveness. Following a review of the 2024/2025 programme, it was deemed optimal to reinstate the Christmas Novice Steeplechase at Leopardstown and create a greater distance differential with that race and the Faugheen Novice Steeplechase by extending the Limerick Grade 1 by 1.5 furlongs.

Two races have been subject to downgrade from Grade 3 to Listed for failing to maintain their minimum required average rating – the Jezki Hurdle at Down Royal on October 31, and the Winning Fair Juvenile Hurdle at Naas in February. The Jezki Hurdle will retain its current value (€50,000) this season.

While not in this Provisional Summary period, the National Hunt Pattern Committee has also recommended that the Grade 2 Directors Plate Steeplechase (2m) at Naas in early January be deleted.

There will also be a number of changes to Pattern Bumpers for the 2025/26 season.

•All Graded and Listed Bumpers to exclude 7-y-o’s

•All Graded and Listed Bumpers to exclude horses that won a Graded Bumper prior to the current season

•All Graded and Listed Bumpers to have a limit of not more than six previous runs

•All Graded & Listed Bumpers to exclude horses which ran in a hurdle race (excluding Academy hurdles)

•Grade 1 winners excluded from the Liss A Paoraigh Bumper (Punchestown festival)

From Gordon Elliott today.....

Elliott also went on to state that a novice chasing campaign was the autumn plan for star mare Brighterdaysahead. She ended the last campaign on a low note at Cheltenham and Punchestown but Elliott is looking forward to seeing her return to the yard after another summer's grass in the next few weeks.

He said: "I'd imagine we'll go chasing with her. The whole second half of the season just didn't work out for her. She maybe did too much at Leopardstown that day and she never showed up after but he's in good form. She's still at home in Gigginstown and will come back in the next couple of weeks and the plan with her is to go chasing.

"There's every chance The Yellow Clay we will keep hurdling. He's a very laidback horse and you could step him up to three miles, or run over two and a half. We've not just decided yet but I wouldn't be shocked if he stayed hurdling.

"Romeo Coolio definitely goes chasing, he came back in very strong. Honesty Policy could go chasing or go down the Stayers' Hurdle route, I think all he does is stay."

Nice to see some national hunt trainer chat! Be the right decision to go Stayers Hurdle route with The Yellow Clay imo. As I may have already said...

Davy Crockett entered in 2m hurdle at Galway on Monday
I will watch with interest

He looked good GV, no doubt about it, I question him being out in July though. Seems very very early for a potential festival contender but he could do the Salvator Mundi (though I think he was out in May) and leave him off until Christmas.

I was balls deep on Mundi but still got the 1,2,3 at 25, 28 and 18/1 but Mundi would have paid for all the weeks bets and the Tuesday handicappers

It wouldn't be my preference for Cheltenham either running in novice hurdles this time of year. Although Mystical Power won the same race for Willie recently before finishing 2nd in the Supreme.
