2021 Marsh Novices Chase

Literally only going from memory but thought he referenced and said along the lines like Getabird likely to stay on right handed tracks and not go back to Cheltenham.

Time will tell - but hard to make a case with his course form (handling of track) either way. Unless he lines up inside Envoi and tried to wipe him out :welcoming::welcoming:

He only ran twice and more importantly both have being going right handed which masks the jumping to an extent

Even going right handed, Punchestown look at the last for example he jumps way to his right and his other start he has fallen.

I accept that, I’m not saying he doesn’t jump to the right I just think it’s over egged. He has a serious engine. I could well be wrong but I like him, I think EW he’s a good thing. :cheerful:

I think you need to watch the supreme again :devilish:. His jumping to the right was extreme, violently right and dangerous.:dejection:

They'd be crazy going left handed at Cheltenham without trying him on a smaller track first.

He almost murdered elixir dainay in the supreme

And went violently right at the last two fences on chase debut

Can anyone think of a worse (more dangerous) round of jumping at Cheltenham Fest?

They may just send him over, position him throughout the race to Envois inside so that he has to keep steering out of the way and TBG wins the race. Mullins couldn't do that could he ?????

I feel like there is an opportunity to increase jockey/horse safety with any horse that jumps the way AF did in the Supreme. Ideally I’d like to see them red flagged mid race so they have to get pulled up, and in extreme cases like this one they should be suspended from racing that way round the track unless they can prove in a pre-race gallop that they have learnt to jump straight.

Nobody is questioning his engine or ability TOTG.

The main thing here is the dangerous jumping out to his right, which gets worse as the race tempo starts to increase.

Agree with everyone wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole without NRNB but even then I wouldn’t touch him until I knew he was coming over and being aimed at the Marsh.

I haven’t really explained myself very well to be honest or done myself any justice. I was merely saying that his jumping over a fence has been fine. Doesn’t seem to move to his right very much. I backed him before his fall so his odds have now been pushed out. Just going to let the bet run :cower:
 
Worst thing about Asterion Forlonge is that had he ended up winning the race, and jumping the last out on his own.
He'd have kept the race.
And that would've been a disgrace.
Although I'd have been very happy.

And in response to some posters.
At Cheltenham was the first time he had really jumped violently to the right, so couldn't be helped really.
It was nowhere near as pronounced in Dublin.
Not even close.

He jumps severely right when under pressure. Lto he wasn’t under pressure when he fell - it was too early in the race. However, he jumped wildly right this season the time before last, at the end of the race. I don’t think he’ll go to Cheltenham.

I must have watched different races this season.

His reappearance run.......... final 2 fences he jumped violently right. In my opinion the horse is a major hazard bordering on dangerous to others.

Maybe a strong opinion but I seriously think he shouldn't be aload to race at the risk of others.
 
I actually hope he falls next time up, but has an entry in the stayers, and takes that up instead, but that's just me being bet selfish.

I'd be amazed if he doesn't jump very right again when he's under pressure though.

He is not who I'd want to be in a battle with if I had money on another horse.

Unfortunately they might not find out if he'll still do it until it's too late.
But at least the other jockeys know this

I certainly recall something along those lines too, no idea who said what and when though! There’s no way they will bring him over so not worth worrying about it too much either
 
I’m sure it was a Ruby Walsh interview. Maybe with Lydia?! I’ll try and find it. Again, may be wrong
 
They were fairly categorical about Getabird.
They've not been as frequent and as categoric at all with this horse, although they may be when he does it next time up.
And they have kept him to right handed courses too.

The risk of him coming over is that they clearly think he's one of the best they have, ability wise.

Regardless of people’s views on the merits of “Envoi Allen v Asterion Forlonge”, surely the only valid point is the fact one bookmaker pricing up AF at 33’s is suggesting Envoi Allen is 33 times more likely to win the race.


One horse made some serious jumping errors in last year’s Supreme, taking out other horses. He also fell in his last race over fences.

The other horse won his race at the same festival and looks like he jumps brilliantly over fences, and has won his 2 races over fences.


All points/counter arguments are all tied up in their current prices.
