If you look closely, you're holding a betting slip in your left flipper.

    • On the subject of Diva's, just backed this in my diary.

Happy Diva 33-1 B365 1pt ew. Mares Chase.

NortonsCoin and Kev, had a funny debate on this one.

And @ 33-1 I'm more inclined to go with the line, "as close to a bet to nothing as you're going to get" - or something similar.

If Benie doesn't come here, and many of the novices.

She will be one of the better rated older Mares, with her being rated 151, and she has only ever won a listed chase, and a grade 3 handicap, so may not have to carry a penalty, meaning she could even get weight from one or two of the others.

I'd certainly be happy to be backing her at 33-1 against Salsaretta & Shattered Love.

And of course her course form is very consistent.

      • It’s all moot. Benie runs here and wins

I may read that back tomorrow

In fairness, a lot of the points made regarding her chances will definitely be worth bringing up again, at this price.

          • Feel welcome to shoot me down in flames if this question has already been mentioned and discussed but have the official race of the Mares Chase been released yet?? Distance, course (new or old), weight allowance, ratings to enter??

With regards to Colreevy, I’m happy to have her on board, I wouldn’t be surprised if the race is kind of fixed so a young and up & coming Mare wins to encourage trainers & owners to start putting more mares over fences, it will look bad if a 10 year old mare wins, it’s like launching a new golf tournament to inspire youngsters and Big Phil or Ernie Els winning, it’s a bad advert. Call me cynical but it’s probably been agreed at one of those secret meetings in a barn or forest between the forces of horse racing as to who wins it and Mullins is nailed on to win it with a young mare probably ridden by a female jockey. I’ve got Happy Diva, BBD and Shattered Love because of my uncontrollable fear of missing out but it will be a young gun and Colreevy, Salsaretta or Elfile have the ideal profile.

Nothing released as far as I'm aware but should be any day

              • It's been placed on the Friday, so it will be the new course and I believe that it's over 2 1/2 miles.
That is all we know at the moment...

cheers buddy, I thought that was the case. That’s ridiculous, just over 3 months to go and they still haven’t decided!!

                      • It’s totally irrelevant but I still stick to my first words when the Mares Chase was announced a couple of years ago or whenever it was that Willie will send Benie to it without a prep (or perhaps one egg and spoon race beforehand in Ireland) and she will win at odds on, it’ll be a field of 7 or 8 and the next best will be miles behind on ratings.

I see no reason as to why Mullins wouldn’t aim her at the race. It’s the easiest option, she’s proven over fences, they’ve always said she’s a better chaser than hurdler, and the race will be weak as piss.

Christ who’s taking 10s on a handicapper in a graded race where a superstar like Benie could turn up. There’s literally no danger of HD shortening markedly so why would anyone take 10/1 now? Bizarre.

I couldn’t agree more MOM. It’s the perfect sign off, and adds value to any foals. Willie will also be determined to win the inaugural running and she is very easily his best chance.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

Yes please. Let's hope Willie is reading this !

Until Paddy aren't top price on Benie Des Dieux for the MC, I won't believe it.

However, i've backed it in anticipation, and people will be reminded of who championed this idea - as I'm a smug twat
