Who's Attending Where?

DRF for me, flying out tomorrow.

I go Punchestown in April often but last went to Leop in 2020 for the DRF and it was superb, buzzing for it.

Looking forward to my first trip to Musselburgh for months. Likely to feel a bit of a geriatric though as there will apparently be a very large student contingent there. Going with the Mrs so better make sure I am only looking at form :barbershop_quartet_member:
 
Was my first time at the Dublin Racing Festival… was last minute but so glad I went

Loved the course and it surroundings, was able to get around to the parade ring and back out to the stands fairly easy despite it being a busy weekend

2 days is perfect, long enough to get into the experience but short enough where you’re so drained and wishing the races away

Great race card - the Irish Arkle was the standout for me. Although, wasnt 100% interested on the mares bumper in the last - I suppose you can’t have it all

Glad I got to seek Honeysuckle in person, I’m not going to the Cheltenham festival so it was the last time. Both (Blackmore and Honey) a great reception in the parade ring

Being allowed to take your drinks out on the grandstand!!! Yayayayy

Negatives: I guess it’s the same with most venues that host a major event, certain facilities struggle at peak times. Typical queues for the toilets and for food. I thought the food there was the below par - limited outlets or vendors. Luckily, I was there for the horse racing, not for a gourmet food. Easily solved by eating before and after

Overall, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. 60 euros for the two days! Flight and accommodation was ok too, I could have done it cheaper if I had planned it better

It’s a festival I will definitely do again, had a great weekend
 
Had a Great Time too Opatcho , I didn't eat on course but my mates found a place upstairs ( above the Paddy power bookies ) .
For food , they had a roast dinner , said it was V. Good.
Like you , did'nt rate the long queues for just about everything , But , what was good .
were the Seats available * FREE* - Cheltenham are you listening ???.

And My mates and meself sat next to Ken the Paddock Expert on the Flight back last night . !! . :cheerful:. Happy day's.
Looking at going back later in the Year for the Killarney festival.

Had a great weekend, would go back every year but looking at next years astronomical hotel prices (presumably because of the rugby?) it looks like it'll be a bi-annual trip. Really good atmosphere and people generally very friendly, wetted the appetite for horsey trips elsewhere in Ireland.

Three of the Blokes i went with to the D.R.F. , Have been ticking off the Irish Racecourses .
I think they said theres 42 of them , and they have about 8 to go to. Always had a great time .
 
Was about to throw my coat on to go to Warwick today, saw the NR. Decided I wasn’t prepared to pay the ?30 (assuming that’s the cost for a ticket today)

It’s a shame, Warwick have been advertising the Kingmaker chase for weeks now, and it’s turned out to be nothing but a public schooling session

Planning to do the Japan Cup this year, has anyone from here been and know what the ticket situation is like? On course betting, general experience/recommendations etc... Cheers.

Never been AV but it should be an incredible experience. One of my favourite races was the pressure cooker 2021 Japan Cup with the weight of a nation on Contrail to win and then to show his retirement ceremony live on YouTube, what other nations do that.

You could contact the JRA re ticket allocation.

Any chance you could drag out your visit and go to the Arima Kinen as well :devilish:

I’m off to Aintree on ladies day this year with a few mates. Always go on the Thursday with the father in law and go in the Princess Royal stand. It’s a good view and reasonable access to a bar.

The lads I’m going with like their racing but not enough to join a forum … they also enjoy a beer. So a good mix between view, atmosphere, and refreshments sought.

Any recommendations of where to stand?

I am booking for Cheltenham and need some help picking the best tickets to enjoy the Tuesday and the Friday

Would prefer to experience the festival with different tickets each day. So to that end I have already bought , Wednesday , Thursday tickets and looking for a different experience for the Tuesday and Friday

So it leaves me with seeking a different experience on Tuesday , and Friday (preferably pay for somewhere quieter on the friday as it sells out , maybe a restaurant w drinks package,)

I want the view , the atmosphere, not watching it on a bloody screen.

I went 10 years ago once on the Tuesday, I now live in Australia and this will be my last trip back to UK so it's bucket list all 4 days

Appreciate the passion and experience in this forum for any advice from those that may have been there many festivals and done it all.

So just need to sort out

Going to Sligo on Sunday. First time I've been. Few mates who live there have sorted it out so should be good, unti I had a look online and saw it was "Peaky Blinders Day".

Going to Charlie Hall Wetherby on 4th November. Enjoyed last years event when attended.
