Ultima Business Solutions Handicap Chase 2018

Last Goodbye who won the 2m5f handicap race at Leopardstown yesterday might come here... 20/1 available. He came 5th behind Tully East/Gold Present etc in the Close Brothers last season and the trainer said this is the most likely target now, straight here.

Would get a big swing in the weights with Gold Present even after he goes up from yesterday?

Had my eye on him for the plate, dependent on what mark he gets shunted up to obviously

Been pushed up 11 to 146 so will be too high for the plate now. Think he’s probably had his day in the sun

Henderson on Gold Present today:
He probably won't go to Cheltenham. He'll run somewhere beforehand and then we'll look at the national

:grumpy: surprised by that I've got to say

Where did you find the quote?

Personally, I can't see him as a National horse. If anything he is too good a jumper as you can brush through plenty these days. It's also a big step from Ryanair entries to a National. Wouldn't be surprised if around three miles was his limit. He isn't that old is he so what's the hurry? Likely he gets a biggish weight this year or next year.

I heard Hendo say it on the MNR podcast. The grand national is worth so much money these days that it looks like that'll be the number 1 aim.

The way he took to the fences (before he fell:devilish:) in the Topham last season makes me think he'll have a great chance in the national.....

3 pts on their way back for Gold Present then for me..... somewhat relieved as I felt I had to back him because he'd be shorter (based on his cracking form working out) rather than really fancying him.

Down to just Singlefarmpayment any race at 22/1 now and I don't think he's a certain runner? Any news on him after pulling up? i can't recall it?

Gold Present a non runner today so the dream of him running here may still be alive.....just.

Im hoping he runs here FM as I really fancy him for this race. The worry is that he's being laid out for the Nash.

Do novices have a good record in the Ultima? The bottom two I'm expecting go elsewhere.

What reason had been given for Gold present being a NR today?

Kev,
GP, going for the Nash is my view. I'd love to see him here though.

Bruised foot. Had drifted slightly for this too, was backable at around 15.5 but back in again to 12.5 over the last 24 hours. May not mean much but Im staying positive anyway!!

Yanworth going to get an entry for this. Interesting off a mark of 149

I'd be shocked if his jumping held together in this, they go 10f pace for the first mile putting massive pressure on jumping.
Keep an eye out though for any info about schooling sessions, in the past he has taken novices and dubious jumpers to a local PTP course which is said to have the toughest fences on the circuit.
He did this with Bensalem who went on to win the race....

At 8/1 NRNB Yanworth incredibly easy to look past though....

The JP angle alone would see to him being shorter than he should be in a handicap. Has NO business being single figure prices.

In the hussle and bustle of this race, that is usually run at a strong gallop, he'd lose way too much time at his fences on what we'd seen so far? Would need a pretty masterful ride?

He'll be taken WIDE by Barry that is 1/10 shot :highly_amused:
