Triumph Hurdle 2019

Poor from Racing Post to not give the full quote earlier.

He’s entered at Kelso so might be trying him out on quick ground to see first

 Pic D'Orhy

"I either go straight to the Triumph Hurdle, or skip that and go to Aintree with him. He's got a lot of ability, and could end up in the Triumph"

"He'll only go to Cheltenham if there's softer ground, if it's fast spring ground we'll probably wait for Aintree"

Fine imo. I took Scooby's advice and only back NRNB so a free swing

and if you believe Nicky about Adjali :p

Reasonably hopeful with those comments. No reason ground will be anymore suitable at Aintree. Agree QD could have some bearing, reckon it’s a 50:50

...Aintree is always lush. I live local and played lots of football there back in the day and it always has plenty of give regardless of weather. Amazing surface.

I’m sure Claisse is going to have the ground soft enough for everybody if not imagine how many runners will exit the gold cup picture due to the ground fingers crossed pic comes here need abit of excitement after the last two weeks of injuries

Pic D'Orhy from 15:52 onwards.

I am definitely interpreting what Paul says about Pic D'Orhy through rose tinted specs, but I thought yesterday was a huge positive for him. He showed 12 of his and wouldn't have shown him off were he not Cheltenham bound. That was my opinion, then I went back to the very start of the above video and he says 'we've picked out 12 horses that are going to Cheltenham to show you'. It's not even a hint, he just says it.

'We took him to Wincanton last week for a racecourse gallop and we were like thrilled with what we saw'

'He has got a lot of ability and to be rated 149 says it all'

'He could end up in the Triumph. I suspect we would only probably go if it was really on the soft side. If the ground was fast ish or good spring ground which he has not been used to we'll porbably wait and go to Aintree with him. But he is a very interesting horse and one we are all excited about, whatever route we go down'

Someone then asks him about his debut being in the Triumph.

The only niggle in my mind is the ground, but the more I look at it the less worried I am. His best form is the second in that grade 1 on good to soft, and Simon Claisse will water anything that's north of good to soft. There is also loads of rain forecast over the next 14 days which is good, and I also generally take what Paul says about the ground with a pinch of salt. It's impossible not to. Look at what he said about Le Prezien - 'he doesn't really want it too soft' and then literally 10 seconds later he said 'last year everything went well for him, the ground was soft' :) Laughably contradictory all in the same breath :highly_amused:
