Triumph Hurdle 2019

Interesting.

What have you got in your side bar other JOB runners?

Quel Destin and Adjali fundamentally aren't as fast at running around fields than SirErec on their known form?

Pic as much as we like him hasn't run in the UK and there are examples or French form not being replicated.

The only other challengers are in the same yard and won't be heading him after the last for fear of losing their jobs

There was a lot of hype around AShakira. ... she wasn't a graded flat performer... Sir Erec in has career already has shown more than 90% of this field ever will.

Strip back everything and SirErec is the best horse in this race in terms of running fast. He's also adapted to hurdles.

Place lay is bold IMO. You're hoping for a fall. 3 horses in this field cannot finish ahead on merit

Place lay :). That was way over the top (on the sauce last night :very_drunk:). He’s a worthy favorite but there’s definitely a case to oppose him at 11/10 (if the money keeps coming he’ll go off odds on).

I doubt I am saying anything new here but I think he was flattered in the Spring Juvenile Hurdle. They crawled around in a race he was allowed to dictate from the front before using his speed to sprint clear. It looked more impressive than it was

Cheltenham will be a completely different test for him. If he handles that test then yes, on known form he would be entitled to beat the likes of Quel Destin and Adjali. That being said, we can confidently say Sir Erec will not be afforded a slow pace, or an easy lead up front. At 11/10 I’d rather have experience on my side. Quel Destin and Pic D’Orhy are 7/1 and 10/1 respectively, both have significantly more race experience than Sir Erec. I can see why people see Sir Erec as a banker, but think it would be madness for those steaming into Sir Erec to not have a saver on also rated 149 Pic D’Orhy @ 10/1 NRNB

I’d sooner place lay Sir Erec than back him at 6/4. If I’d said that last year re the ‘bombproof’ Apple’s Shakira at 6/5 I’d be sent away to be analysed. Over hyped, over priced and incredibly easy to oppose.

I think the flat form makes his case more solid.

I don’t think the strategy is wrong though, I’m not convinced that the potential stars will be overly knocked about if their winning chance has gone...

Pic D’Orhy was certainly working with a decent group of (Cheltenham bound) horses on the clip Paul Nicholls tweeted out this morning

Think the apple's shakira comparison is flawed.
she represented the best UK juvenile form last year and beat all the UK runners in the triumph.
The Irish juveniles, and the Dublin trial were just a lot better than her.

And there's enough evidence this year (probably more) to suggest it's going to be a similar story.

6/4 is a good price.

I've already retracted my place lay comment cause I was pissed and just being silly :highly_amused:

I am still opposing SE

Nick luck talking up Pic D'orhy on the ffp.
Reckons he will run. 35mins onwards in the novice hurdlers special.

Was going to say earlier, it feels like there is some momentum gathering although wasn't sure if was just Charlie's infectious enthusiasm influencing that feeling...Haha!

Pic D'Orhy will be my biggest winner as a single ...

Unless Fakir D'oudaries has won the Supreme, whereby Sir Erec would slide ahead ...

And Adjali would be a great result too (although still behind Sir Erec)

If it's not 1 if those 3 ... I'll be disappointed.

Tricast nailed :triumphant:

Hahaha. Scooby set this train in motion!!!

All this rain good new for pic d'hory.....if he's fit enough surley he runs here now

They were going to run him this weekend but he didn't qualify for the race so he's definitely ready to go.

He'll need more than rain to win this race. Another fantasy story Imo

You think it is impossible or improbable that Pic D'Orhy could win a Triumph. Not a view I share but prefer that to fence sitters.

Sir Erec has had two hurdle races quicker pace could easily flatten one and be gone

You banking on him falling then ?
Could happen.

Only a view that I don't see it happening. Its a stretch for me. Good luck if he makes it to the track Charlie.
