Triumph Hurdle 2019

Adjali out to 16/1; am I blinded because we’ve talked about him so much or is that a more than fair price?

Both of them are huge. They're the 2 best juveniles to date.

Crazy talk fighting out a grade 1 by 22L being dissapointing. Take advantage of the prices. I'll be getting stuck in again once my boost renews.

Paul said the winner goes straight to chelt.
I'd be assuming adjali will have another run.

Take either out of that race everyone would be rejoicing about the 22L grade 1 winner

That’s massive in my opinion.

I have to agree once again with Scooby. 22 lengths clear of the third. They’re the best two on all known form we’ve seen so far. Sir Erec has the potential to be very good but on form, these two are clearly head and shoulders the best two we have seen.

Just watched the race a few times and I still can't believe Adjali didn't go past QD. Seemed to cock his jaw in the last couple of strides - I wondered if he shied away from STD's whip but no argument that the form is rock solid and a mile ahead of the Irish form to date.

Ladbrokes have given me a nice free bet so I've added Quel Destin at 14/1 with that.

So Corals have gone 16/1 and 365 14s , surprised by this tbh as if he had won by a neck would he have gone shorter than the 10s this morning or stayed the same do people think? i obviously wanted Adjali to win but with how some of Hendos have run this last 48 hours and being well clear of 3rd with a tough rival in Quel plenty of positives rather than negatives i thought

And the main thing. You know for a fact the 2 of them can jump.

I didn’t like the ride on Adjali.... travelling so sweetly with Quel coming under a ride don’t panick and go right up alongside. Give him a bit of space and kick Adjali wider of Quel and later. Instead went eyeball to eyeball and then becomes about determination and the ride rather than class.
Personally can see Adjali travelling through a quickly run triumph like a dream and coming there swinging. Delivered later and better he win.... let’s hope so anyway!

Considering i've backed Adjali pretty much solely on your recommendation it would be pretty foolish to get knocked back too much after today when you clearly still keep the faith :encouragement:

I backed Fret D'Estruval also (but cashed out) and then Coko Beach when he was flagged up on twitter other than that it's my only play in the race and i'm almost certain to leave it there. Therefore i'd have really liked him to have beaten QD well today :highly_amused: but there's not too many negatives in his run really so it's very much a bet that has a good chance of coming in still imo. Experience was probably the key factor between the pair today.

My slight concern would revolve around whether either A. the horse is not quite the best battler in a finish - he travelled all over QD for much of the race but I never felt like he was going to get past him. There's enough evidence and runs for QD now that suggest he's as tough a horse as you could want in that regard and as above, he had experience onside. You'd have to give Adjali another go as next time out, in the same circumstances this Chepstow run could well be the experience he needed to next time get his head infront. But that's my slight worry purely from a visual impression of todays race. The other, B. would be a slight reluctance with Jacob onboard on a horse who travels well but doesn't find as much as you'd hope. For me it's not a great combination

Just out of interest, how did their clashes in France pan out?

Did Adjali have to battle past QD in any of them or was he just superior then?

Adjali. 7/10F
"Settled in midfield, took closer order 2 out, led narrowly last, shaken up and stretched clear run-in"

Quel destin was still learning, he's clearly strengthened up and improved since then. Has a brilliant attitude in a dog fight. Cheltenham suits him down to the ground.
Adjali has a touch more class.

Interesting to see if they're fighting it out again in March.

Fingers crossed.

I have a nagging doubt that Nicholls' string may not be at their best at Cheltenham. Not doubting his ability whatsoever, he's my favourite trainer, but he specialises now in finding the right races through the season. The other big trainers, are aiming at 4 specific days, I'd feel Henderson will eek out improvement if they met again.

I'd love to be wrong, and Paul Nicholls to have a superb week.

Politilogue, Clan Des Obeaux, Quel Destin - the makings of a nice trixie :very_drunk:

Point A is mostly relevant I think...Firstly this was the first time I had seen Adjali in the flesh he is a super impressive specimen. My impressions of the race today were that Sam T D rode QD to perfection (no surprise to me, as they are both gutsy individuals) but Daryl will have learned far more today than at M Rasen about Adjali. I don't think he ducked the issue against QD more a slightly less battle hardened horse today. Come March I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Adjali come out on top. One other point the ground rode super sticky today according to the jockeys i spoke with...not sure if that had any effect one way or another though no doubt very difficult to kick on at the end of a race in those conditions...though i suspect DJ will try and avoid if possible another eyeball to eyeball battle with QD.
Not sure about your point B though I have to preface this by saying that Daryl has ridden for me on a good number of occasions... I don't think the horse will lack for assistance from the saddle as DJ can adapt his style according to the horse he is riding. He is an intelligent Jockey and will I am sure find the key to get the best from Adjali.

Now which owners have horses down in the West Country, that Daryl Jacob would have ridden for.

Before he took the Suede/Munir job I'm guessing?

When he was with Paul Nicholls? Or freelance?

Must be freelance?

Give us some clues

Largely since he has been in the double green on a when available basis...interesting trixie you put forward...Clan Des Obeaux and Politilogue are horses I have always loved...and Quel Destin has an amazing will to win...There must be one or two surprised at NJH's yard as they thought that Adjali could go through the season unbeaten. But if your'e going to get beat and you learn something from it... now is the time not in March.

Adjali hasnt had the smoothest preparation so yesterday was a very good run, keep the faith lads, experience won the day for me. I think those two are the best two weve seen.

Anything specific about the prep?

Was certainly encouraged by Adjali's run, as others have said feel like Jacob could've taken a better approach that would've seen the win, but all in all was a good run, solid round of jumping and ultimately undone by a relatively experienced juvenile.

Fenta Des Obeaux declared tomorrow.

So is Gordon's. A trappy one that as he's good bumper form.
Fenta des obeaux is a tear away like stormy Ireland. So should be fun to watch.
