Thursday FJ yankee - owner Middle_of_March

His Cheltenham record is far too good for a 12/1 shot. I thought he battled well last time at Doncaster and I think it’s a poor race. I’d take 12s each way on L’Ami over 9/2 on sam Spinner every day of the week. Yanworth is a horse I can’t take to in a big field like this and I don’t think Supasundae will stay the trip in the soft ground. Ruby doubts penhill is fit enough. Apples Jade won’t run. Wholestone ain’t good enough and The New one is past his best.

So it’s Lami Serge unfortunately for you Kev. The popularity in this thread and the Stayers has it as a match between Sam Spinner and L’Ami Serge. I agree with that. But I think there’s far more value in the course specialist in an each way yankee. As my job in this is to make the tough calls, it’s Lami Serge for me.

Should leave this race out imo. So open and I’d give 7/8 a chance of winning it (think I’m on all of them :highly_amused:)

I am inclined to agree.

My strongest fancy is now Sam Spinner but can see why he is opposable too.

Sam Spinner wins at Cheltenham 0 from 0 attempts
L'ami Serge wins at Cheltenham 0 from 3 attempts.

Respect the captains decision though ... fingers crossed and I'll get paid for being wrong :) That is the last I'll say on the race in this thread.

That 0 from 3 doesn’t tell the whole story in fairness. It doesn’t help that the Thursday racing in general, UDS aside, is tough imo. Not the easiest day for a yankee that’s for sure.

TBF MOM, I don't think any day at the festival is easy, especially so with the way the weather is currently too.

As someone who done a yankee last season my advice would be go with who you feel has the best claims based on the evidence of others on the thread regardless of what some others may think. You have hugely differing opinions on here, which is great, and at the end of the day the individuals that do not like a specific horse don't necessarily have to put the yankee on as a bet, I do for a bit of fun with everyone else who does, I have my main bets covered anyhow.

Lami serge going to Ryanair via NJH at Sandown preview ...watched another bit back in stayers

From what I can gather, they were going Ryanair and schooled him over fences this morning but now decided to go Stayers.

I took 33/1 this morning. He did say they may change their mind again tomorrow....

Cheers.

A shame the foxhunters ain’t on the Thursday as I could’ve thrown Burning Ambition in and just let that be the end of it :highly_amused:

I shall have the Yankee up by tonight. Am split on one last selection between two possibilities.

We try get the yankees up today ready for people travelling down tomorrow

My issue is at this stage is that Monalee looks likely to run here in the JLT. The exchanges tell us that. I’ve spent today waiting for the announcement.

If he runs here, he’d be in along with UDS and it would become a win yankee. Meaning L’Ami Serge would be dropped (as I said he would if it’s a win yankee).

If there’s no announcement, I won’t know until about 11am tomorrow until the RSA declarations come out.

So the whole yankee is in a bit of a problem atm. The two scenarios are:

1) If Monalee doesn’t run... Each way yankee of Finians Oscar, Tully East, L’Ami Serge and Maria’s Benefit.

2) If Monalee does run.. win yankee of Monalee, Un De Sceaux, Tully East and Maria’s Benefit.

Any suggestions what I should do as it’s supposed to be up tonight and, as of yet, Henry De Bromhead has made no announcement. The exchanges do seem ominous for his RSA hopes though.

Uds would get beat by douvan surely. Not sure what the general consensus is? But id be shocked if uds isn't a bigger price on the day.

In regards to monalee I'm not sure if it's real or pot noodle man. The money is small. And they haven't taken all the money waiting to back him for the rsa

If Douvan was fully fit, he’d be in the Champion Chase.

So Ruby’s obviously chosen min and now they’re sending Douvan elsewhere. In which case, UDS will surely win. Douvan to stay 2m 5f on soft ground? After a years break. I can’t see it.

I would prefer Monalee in the rsa as I’ve backed him in some multis for that. Will be backing him big in whichever race he runs in though.

Your job is INCREDIBLY hard tonight MoM! Good job it is only a bit of fun fun my goodness you've had it rough :p

My two pennies on that...

Why would Douvan be in the CC if fully fit?

Ricci has literally said the reason is that he wants to split his horses up.

You can very easily see that Min is an out and out two miler...

DOuvan they've always said he'd get further...

I don't believe Min has chosen to ride Min over Douvan at any point.

Un De Sceaux won't be fav if Douvan runs in the Ryanair.
