this week's entries

Cork Entries (20/11) https://status.hri-ras.ie/entries/Mi...1&v=202211

A few interesting ones ...

2m Maiden Hurdle (4yo): Irish point, Absolute Notions
2m Maiden Hurdle (5yo +): Embassy Gardens, Itswhatunitesus
2m 1/2f Mares Beginners Chase: Dinoblue, Instit, Happy D'ex, Telmesomethinggirl

Was beginning to wonder re Instit but happy now she's got her chase entry. Hopefully TMSG will jump fences like a snooker table........

Lookaway declared to run at Warwick tomorrow and
Issuing Authority entered in a 2m 4f maiden hurdle at Uttoxeter on Sunday :love-struck:

Am looking forward to see what Lookaway has to show over Hurdles. He's high up the list re top English Bumper horse following his impressive win at Aintree and King has been very vocal about him as he thinks he's very special. We'll see tomorrow!

I was watching a podcast on youtube - 10 Irish Horses to Follow. - Irish racing .com i think.
Any way , Emma nagle put Instit up as one of her 5 chasers to follow.

Willie said that she'd go chasing and that a step up in distance would suit. She's only 5 in January which is mighty young for a chaser but they must think she's got the attributes.

Boom Boom for Henderson also entered.

Broughshane for Jonjo - 95 RPR for this PTP win and bought for ?150k.

Inch House also entered for Jonjo - 93 RPR for PTP win and bought for ?125k.

Jet Smart for Pipe - looked decent in his 2nd behind Act of Authority.

If we get half of these entered it will be a decent maiden for the UK.

Boom Boom, Broughshane and Jet Smart declared.

Some that caught my eye for a watching brief over the weekend (apologies for any duplication)

Punchestown Saturday
1.38 - 2m3f maiden hurdle
Deep Cave - GBP 235k - 92 RPR point win - Full bro to JPR One - Favourable mention in stable tour
My Trump Card - EUR 230k store - Full brother to Airlie Beach

3.55 - 2m bumper
Caldwell Potter - EUR 200k store - Full bro to Mighty Potter
Cato Capone - GBP 180k - Unfortunate second behind Encanto Bruno in his point when jumping let him down at the finish.
Shannon Royale - GBP 300k - Second in a strong point - Nicely bred.

Punchestown Sunday
3.50 - 2m bumper
Lecky Watson - Second to stable mate Icare Desbois in a historically strong bumper at Fairyhouse in April; was Patrick’s pick on the day.
Cato Capone - see above
Shannon Royale - see above

Cork Sunday

Got Deep Cave and My Trump Card on my tracker. Benaud was rated 101 on the flat so interesting to see how he fares, plus Absolute Notions. Could be a decent contest if 2 or 3 of them turn up.

Caldwell Potter was well fancied before his bumper last season but scoped badly after the run. My thought is that he may stay in bumpers this season and may even end up at Cheltenham.

He’s in both the bumper and hurdle race so you’d think he’ll be taking up one of them.

How does everyone see Blue Lord, Elimay and Scarlett And Dove running today with a view to Cheltenham?

….thought it interesting that Blue Lord runs over 2m 4f today, yet in his stable tour Mullins specifically said he was “one for the Champion Chase”.

He went back in trip with Arvika Ligeonniere to the QMCC, after winning the Clonmel Oil Chase, but he was PU in thr QMCC.

Kemboy went up to the Gold Cup after winning the Clonmel, but UR in the Gold Cup.

Alelchi Inois went to the X-Country later in the season after winning the Clonmel Oil Chase.

Looks like a race he likes to pick up the prize money for for some horses who don't seem to go so well at Cheltenham (maybe a dislike of the track), in that same season, or he feels are short of ability for Cheltenham.

Some horse that have Cheltenham form have won it though, Douvan, but he was aged 9 and it was his final ever race, Champagne Fever too, but again, that was the latter part of his career.

Interesting to see how Elimay and Scarlett and Dove go against each other again. i'd be siding with S&D today.
I think both of these mares will be carrying a 3 pound penalty in March for their graded wins last spring? I know it's only 3 pounds but last year's Mare's chase proves that there isn't too much between the mares and If S&D was not carrying it, she would have won, you'd be thinking.

Don't know why there is a penalty on the mares chase anyway

Elimay drifting like a barge suggests she's not gonna be close to fit

Apologies if this has been mentioned already but Frontal Assault is entered in the Welsh National which I found peculiar.

The french dynamite form looks pretty solid and with fitness on side think Ballyshannon Rose is a good each way bet. I'd like to think out of Scarlet and Dove, Elimay and Dolcita one of them will cry enough first time out.
