Supreme Novices 2018

I imagine the MK odds are very simply explained by there not being much money for him at that price.

You can't crib his form this season but the fact remains that he isn't bred like a Supreme winner and connections are not usually associated with Supreme runners.

Agree Archie. He's a really big horse, looks like a chaser, and not a typical supreme horse. That said, his form thus far is very good.

I think that entries for the G1s at Leopardstown (Christmas) closed today so a few names will be notable by their inclusion or absence.

Skybet are 8/1 at the moment via sporting life for Mengli Khan on the Road to Cheltenham selection for anyone interested

Looking forward to hearing these!

Dortmund Park has an entry over hurdles on Sunday at Navan... (not sure if this has been mentioned can't remember) ... very excited to see this horse jumping.

Lydia hislop likes Mengli khan !!,.

Dortmund Park is entered in the same race as Choungaya who was a big money purchase by harold Kirk/Mullins and is out of Walk in Park like Douvan and Min.

On both at 200.0+ (admittedly very small amounts) but wouldn’t mind one of them smashing up

If Dortmund park can jump he wins.

At the weekend that is.

Dortmund Park 11/10 for tomorrow. The 40/1 for the Supreme might look nice post race.

An old one but I thought I'd put it up for anyone who hasnt seen it.

Gigginstown have secured themselves a horse hailed as good as Un De Sceaux- and possibly even better.

Like the 2017 Ryanair Chase winner, Dortmund Park started out in French AQPS flat races for Fabrice Foucher, creating a very big impression in the French Champion Bumper.

That was enough to get the Irish training powerhouses fighting over Richard Hobson's son of Great Pretender, as the hammer went down at 230,000 Euros to Gigginstown and Gordon Elliott.

Willie Mullins, keen to get his hands on a new recruit compared to his top earner of almost £1million, was the losing underbidder at the Arqana Summer Sale.

The result capped an epic second season for Richard Hobson, now established in the training ranks alongside his French bloodstock commitments.

No longer is he just the man who purchased legendary hurdler Hurricane Fly, because Tahira (Listed hurdle) and Dame Rose (Aintree Grade Two Mares' Flat race) have done the talking for his yard on the track.

Dortmund Park's hefty price tag followed Hobson having the joint top lot at the Spring Store Sale, a Diamond Boy gelding scooped by Mouse Morris for £100,000.

"I would have taken one of those," said the Cotswolds trainer, assessing how the last year has gone combining his skills.

"We have to make the game pay- turnover is important.

"I'm quite happy for a horse to go elsewhere and do well."

Dortmund Park is from the same family as one of my Hobson's other horses Allysson Monterg.

Willie Mullins trained his sister, Valyssa Monterg- and the trainers are in agreement the family take time to reach their potential.

That trait was apparent early on for Dortmund Park, whose delay going into training ahead of his two AQPS wins did him the world of good.

"We bought him as a yearling and he was in pre-training here in the Cotswolds," Hobson continued.

"We took him to the Tattersalls Ireland sale at Cheltenham in December 2016 and they changed it from the all-weather.

Alain Cawley riding Dame Rose to win The Goffs Nickel Coin Mares Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at Aintree Racecourse on April 6, 2017

"He hadn't galloped on grass before and it was too quick for him. He jarred up and didn't sell in the ring.

"At the sales you have one chance to please the eye of someone else and it just didn't happen.

"We brought him home, gave him some time off and sent him to Fabrice Foucher.

"He said he's as good as Un De Sceaux, if not better.

"He's a quality young horse with a very bright future. I wish his new connections the best of luck."

If he translates his aqps form to hurdles he should win easily tomorrow. Your have thought 2miles would be his trip. Got enough on him at 3 figures. But If he wins as I'm expecting, I'll be having a chunk ew at 40s as he pops over the last held together by jack kennedy.

What ever he does if you've seen his previous runs, hes certainly an exciting prospect.

I backed at 50s on the back of OJA .... will be doing the exact same though as it was only 0.5 pts e/w!

Got very excited about this when I read the comments about Draconien.

Let's hope I don't press the button today for the trainer to come out and say he's going for a different trip :highly_amused:

Draconien?

Change of plan . Iv topped up already at 40s win only. Can't be bothered with ew tbh.

Got him at 160.0 120.0 90.0 50/1 40/1 And he hasn't even ran yet. :highly_amused:

Betting suggests Gigg might have a little job on here :(
