Supreme Novices 2018

Should be a cracker. Black op for me
I know your firmly in the world premier camp.
So hopefully one of us comes out unscathed :)

Lost In Translation (likely favourite) could scupper us both. I've punted far too many for this race already and am losing enthusiasm with it a little from a betting perspective. Feel like i'm chasing my tail a bit and next year i'm going to try and hold off getting involved til after xmas. First bet struck was Red Jack at 33s back in May. Actually gone off him now but if he won the race it would be bittersweet

I really like lost in translation not for this race but In general I'm both his runs. Made a howler at chepstow when travelling far superior to anything else so I'd be inclined to upgrade that a little. He's a bit of a yardstick now. If you have hopes of competing in the top grade you need to beat lost in translation.

I wasn't impressed with red jack either tbh in his maiden hurdle but hopefully he needed that and will come on for the experience .

I know this feeling Robante! What's done is done now, Annamix was a huge blow, not just for the singles but a lot of Multi's he went in. I have every intention of now leaving this race alone and what will be will be.

For those are on this forum next season, please continue to advise me not to bother putting any novice hurdler in any multiples please, that's if you're not all sunning yourselves away with the thousands you make ;)

The Supreme does seem to be this way for me every year. You've got the mix of french imports that might go straight for it, bumper horses from the year before, and ones bought off the flat the very same season (saw Carntop tipped for this race earlier in the week who was running in Class 2's on the flat in August). Such a mish mash of form to weigh up. The Triumph seems a little different as the french imports seem to thrive there and you can get good prices on them early on with a little research

Probably also because it's the festival opener, everyone wants to get off to a flyer, and we back multiple horses in the race to turn some profit somehow. But obviously when they start disappearing we end up with hardly any and chase our tail, for me now though I am done with this race even if Real Steel and Makitorix are poor over the next few days!

That will do. Pleased with that from real steel.

Very nicely done I thought. Had a small interest at 33s beforehand, thanks for the heads up. Shame Champagne Paddy didn't complete as there was a nice collateral formline with Debuchet involving that one

Agree, very nice stable debut. Whilst the majority are going to be at best, average, Daly Tiger is no mug, and has the flat speed as he showed in his bumper win, and that was all Real Steel had to beat, and did it very nicely :)

Daly tigers bumper was visually as impressive as SAMCRO's bumper . No doubt.

Couldn't ask for much more really, ran quite green to my eye so should improve for the run.

Took the words out of my mouth Montjeu! Very happy with that.

Makes me wonder just how good they think Makitroix is as well!

Indeed.

Also, the 3rd horse, Stacks Mountain, who was still beat 21 lengths by Real Steel, actually finished 10 1/4 lengths behind Vision Des Flos in that valuable and solid looking bumper at Punchestown last season. That has chucked out multiple winners both on the flat and some impressive hurdles winners too, so you could argue that overall that win has a solid feel about it already.

Otherwise known as 'the Hollowgraphic bumper' :p

" he jumped big early but once he got the hang of Irish hurdles, he was slick. I thought 2m would be fine for him but Paul said he'd like to step up in trip. After that experience, he'll be sharper over 2m next time"

I'd take that as they left plenty to be worked on at home and he will come on for the run, learned plenty today and will strip fitter for his next outing over 2miles

Obviously he can go up to 2m4 depending on the likes of winter soldier and who ruby wants to ride in what race.

Bollocks. Not what we wanted to hear.

Yeah maybe one more go at 2m with that run under his belt before they decide.

I took that a different way to you just edited above.
Just let him do his talking on the track, hes over 2m next I wouldn't be worried. As I expect him to win again.

If your that worried. Iv been a gentleman and left £20 at 40.0 for the ballymore on the exchange

Well I suppose it will all depend on what else they have, as usual. Should Sayar and Makitorix both win their next starts in Graded races impressively over 2, then they might decide to move this fella up in trip. Im sure he doesn't ignore PT's opinion.

Just went to take the £20 and it had already gone!

It wasn't me but funny if it's someone on here lol.

Nice performance from Real Steel. The 2nd home looked decent as well.
