Supreme Novices 2018

I'm a sucker for a low head carriage, and thought it was a nice enough performance from Mr One More if you take into account how shabby he was over the last few hurdles. If he tidied up his jumping and comes on again from that it wouldn't be too big a stretch to see him in the picture for the Supreme, still think Claimantakinforgan might prove to be the best performing of last years bumper horses over this trip

Not a big bumper horse fan for finding the Novice Hurdle winners, as I had stated earlier in the thread, only 3 from last season stood out for me, obviously Fayonagh, who sadly lost her life, Debuchet, who has had a wind op and we are yet to see and Next Destination, who was very impressive on hurdles debut, aside from that I won't be in a hurry to back any of the others at this current time.

I really like debuchet, he will be out around Christmas time if not early January, after a very minor wind op.

Hurdles a whole new discipline though. But looking forward to him anyway

Fair call. Just think Claimantakinforgan has potential for most improvement if campaigned a little more wisely this year. Don’t think he was at his freshest heading in to Cheltenham yet still finished ahead of Next Destination

not particularly impressed with Mr One More. Didn't like the low head carriage, and jumped very poorly. He did however show his battling qualities in the finish where it matters. not sure he's good enough to get into a finish at the highest level.

ANNAMIX – 4yo g by Martaline

Formerly with Guillaume Macaire he had one run last Autumn at Vichy, finishing 2nd. He is by the right sire out of a black type Aga Khan family and is typical of the horse we try to get hold of, give them time to mature and get accustomed to WP’s way of doing things. He did a couple of pieces of work in the Spring and everyone was happy with him – I see he is prominent in the betting for the Supreme so he must have gone well!! As with all these, we will try to get their maiden hurdle out of the way and plot from there but we would like to think he will make a good novice before going chasing.

I marked down Mr. One More after his bumper win last year, was on Le Breuil in the race but was very taken with how MOM ran away from a decent field, the form of his debut over hurdles worked out well despite him running very green, with the 2nd Summerville Boy almost causing a big upset in a grade 2 at Cheltenham last Sunday, he was less green today and his head carriage was improved but his jumping today was atrocious & the fact that he managed to get his head in front despite that speaks volumes, he looks as game as a badger and if Harry Fry can polish up his jumping i think he could be a player

I agree, looking at likely candidates for this race I still think he’s overpriced at 25s. Lalor is the same price and given scope for improvement with Mr One More I find that baffling. Annamix and Pym could stake decent claims over the coming weeks, and another one I like is out tomorrow, Sharjah. I fully expect him to win tomorrow and he should be even better when he finally gets decent ground - his flat form is right up there with the best

Lalor finds nothing off the bridle, iv heard a few good reports about a horse with Gordon Elliott called Dortmund Park but thats all speculation

Sharjah vs Roaring Bull at Gowran tomorrow in a race that has been won by Douvan and American Tom.... will have to be a good one for Ricci to beat Roaring Bull, a cracking little race!

With them being so close in the betting tomorrow, is 50/1 a little big on Roaring Bull for the Supreme? or is he going up in trip? (Presenting/Milan) in the family?

Difficult one, id have thought up in trip but both could go up in trip to be fair. Although i Can see ricci having more than one runner in atleast one of the novice races this year.

Annamix is very well thought of, I would recommend to have a wee saver on him.

More than 'covered' already :encouragement:

I actually like Sayar the best so far for Mullins but I don't expect him to be the best by quite a way.

Mortal running today 12.35 Gowran Park. Should get a line through Red Jack. Several entered in the Royal Bond along with Red Jack and numerous Mullins hotpots.

Ran a good race but no idea on the form. Minellafordollars who drifted out ran a shocker all be it he wants further but too bad to be true.

Not disappointed with sharjah but very disappointed with that race as a whole. I was waiting to back sharjah but had to leave him at 27.0 learned nothing other than the fact it worries me just how well sharjah settled and they could go out in trip with him any time they wanted to if there are stronger suoreme candidates in the yard

Very strange race on the whole. Davy setting off on a crawl was only ever going to suit the ex Aga Khan horse Sharjah, expected more from someone with a reputation for having plenty of tactical nous.

Willie Mullins - Sharjah @GowranPark1: "Obviously nobody wanted to make the running but Paul (Townend) certainly didn't want to & thought he could use his speed to beat them. It worked out well & he got the jump at the last when he needed it. He'll have no trouble going further."

Farce of a race , winner won well but disappointed jockeys frightened to make it.

Didnt see supreme winner imo ,bookies seem to agree.

Anybody know the plans/heard anything about either Champ or OK Corral this year?

World Premier has an entry at Newbury this Friday and I see him as a lively outsider for this race. Beat Gortroe Joe by 12 lengths in a bumper l last year, who has since run to within 3 lengths of Slate House. Clearly has a lot of potential and will be interesting to see how he’s schooled
