Supreme Novice Hurdle 2019

It would, I agree.
I corrected it above when I thought It through in more detail. You might have skipped past it :)

The last thing preventing me getting carried away with Mister Fisher is both his best runs have been at Kempton. It could be nothing but the fact they mentioned the Dovecote as his next target means he’ll only really have ran at Kempton his whole career to date.

Henderson needed the best horse in training to get one to win a Supreme.

Brings them along too slowly to have them peaking as two Mile novice chasers.

Lay them both :devilish:

Good point, someone brought up his ballymore record as being poor the other day, his supreme record with regards winners ain't much better.

You could be on to something. There is a good case for following them afterwards though ...Buveur, Sprinter Sacre, MTOY, Oscar Whisky all did OK after it

and Darlan & Spirit Son just how good they might have been.

Oh God! Darlan! You just ruined my day Mayo. And I thought I was over it!!

I’m not sure Mister Fisher has the scope of some of the others for chasing so hopefully he’ll work him hard this year :highly_amused:

To be fair, his place record is very good so we're talking a few lengths between a great record and a poor one...

As with all these kinds of trends, a lot more to it than just a flippant comment

I haven’t given up hope on Thomas Darby yet. A fast run 2 miles finishing up a hill will suit him down to the ground - I hope !! :)

yep, something stopping me from cashing that one too.
Got a feeling trainer may go up in trip though, which would be a mistake I think as that race looks hotter at this stage.

With the absence of Winter during the... winter months, are we going to have another wet few months heading into the festival

I seriously cant see how we are going to go through the next 2 months without a cold snap, bringing snow, wind, rain and so on. I can't see use having one of those spring festivals, with the ground men and women all rushing out to water the ground!

As a result, I'm going to take a look at one race which I have always crapped during my 8 or so years trying to get the bookies beaten. That race is the Tolworth...

Normally ran in the very testing of conditions, which had been a contrasted with fairly quick good fresh going in March. Last year was one of the first time we've seen conditions align and what happened... the two horses that finished 1st and 2nd in the Tolworth went onto replicate the positioning in the Champion Hurdle

Henderson has been known to throw a decent on into the Tolworth, often than not winning the race.

I'm not going to bored you, but I taking a dip into the 20/1's on offer for Rathill on the basis that

- I sure he will win this weekend. He was very impressive first time out, particularly as they went slow, so for a horse who I think will stay very well over 2 miles, he has already displayed the ability to switch through the gears
- Barry appears to be well contented with the horse first time out, appearing to know exactly how much left he had and that was proven in the final 1-2 furlongs. Very impressive seeing this in a horse on his first run under rules
- Winning this weekend which almost certainly half his price for the sumpreme
- he hits the pedigree markers which have always returned a winner in this race, unlike the well favored Angels Breath
- believe we'll see very testing conditions again in March, so want a horse that will go over soft-heavy.. i.e a Tolworth horse

... and for those reasons, I'm taking the 20's :very_drunk:

Taking the Altior point - he did run Altior over bumpers, and started him early over hurdle getting in 4 very good runs before going to the festival.....

It's one thing I want in a horse, at least 3-4 runs over hurdles before the supreme, but struggling to see anything decent that has been able to manage this. Maybe the ground hasn't helped... but still.....

hmmmmm indeed

Lovely write up and good luck, may all come to fruition.
Although the antepost market suggests Birchdale may run on saturday.
Obviously might not happen as I've seen hendersons horses backed in similar circumstances and then not get declared.
And they could both run I suppose.

As regards the weather.
Whilst not exactly the same as I'm sure the scientists would tell us.
But expecting extremely wet weather for the next few weeks because we've had very dry weather in the previous weeks is like tossing a coin and after five consecutive heads up, expecting a lot of tails to come up in the next few tosses.

sounds a bit rude I know

Of the JP lot I think Champagne Platinum will be his main Supreme hope myself.

I'll be taking the view that whichever goes for the Tolworth will go for the Ballymore unless the ground comes up heavy at the festival like it did last season, if both do then both will come under consideration on how they perform.

At the start of the season I had my eye on Champ for betfair hurdle as JP and Hendo definitely target that race. This guy is now off 140 and I think he will head for that and then here ala tent.
