Don't understand why the likes of Benie are entered in Stayers when they are 100% going for another race. Someone explain please....what's the point??

Only my take HP, I have no inside info...
If she fell at the first in the Mares but was 100% fine, then this would be a decent back up plan.
Entries are so cheap in the scheme of things then can't do any harm. Why not give yourself as many options as possible?
My take from when she fell at the last in last years race
Was definitely the case for many years CCM but rule changes 2/3 years ago prevent horses from declaring/running twice in the week, the change was bought in to combat trainers who gave their horses multiple entries which in turn created false markets.
Most horses this far out will get multiple entries for various reasons such as opposition targets, ground etc...
If Paisley Park gets injured and Honeysuckle looks on track for the mares, I'm sure they'd like the chance of going for the Stayers instead?

And this wasn’t a deep race to win last May??
I wouldn’t rule Benie out of the Stayers yet, she won the grade 1 in Auteuil in May over the Stayers Hurdle distance. I still think it’s a genuine possibility this year even if there has been little talk of it from connections. We don’t know how Mullins mares are working at home and many of his best horses don’t race that often in a season. I think Mullins will aim a few of his best at the Stayers again as it’s a race he’s done well in over the past 5 years and I think BDD is a real possibility. If I’m wrong it’s cost me a few quid but I’m prepared to take that risk.
A bit if relief for anyone who thought ITCF might swerve chelt for aintree.
He said: “If The Cap Fits is due to go to for the Cleeve Hurdle, which would be his first run at the track, but it’s not guaranteed. If it’s bottomless he might go straight for the Festival rather than getting to the bottom of him in January.”
