Stayers Hurdle 2020

Dare I place a few shilling on Apples Jade today with a new jockey and first time blinkers applied :stupid:

I have 2 british pounds on at 80s on the exchange from a long while back - at the top of her game she's not without a chance.

I love that they've banged Dickie on. Cracking jockey for her....and a pair of blinkers.

If she bounced back to her BEST form, she'd give Paisley Park something to beat! Let's not forget she did win a Mares Hurdle so there is some Festival form if you go looking hard enough.

It's odds on she Pulls Up and retires today isn't it really, but what a superstar Mare she has been over the years. Hope that doesn't get lost today if they do retire her (which I believe is the plan, regardless of result)

BEtway are 6/4 Paisley Park

Restricted stakes I think, I can't get £6 on.

Essentially lost my betway account thanks to £2.50 e/w at 33s in Sharjah :highly_amused:

The 58p I can get on will make waves in p/l column

The ups and downs of racing :highly_amused:

Well done to any Lisnager Oscar backers.

All none of them?

Ronald Pump w/o PP - finishes 2nd and don't collect the win part. Who would have thought!

Winner done it well

Would Benie have won.... :highly_amused:

My grandson is called Lisnager Oscar Wilson so I had 10p ew.:highly_amused:

Backed him for the potato race last year :highly_amused:

Same haha can't beleive he went and won the Stayers at 50/1! I actually done it 25s TWAR and was cursing the Lovely rebecca when wasnt entered in handicap! Ha!

Must have been something wrong with Paisley Park as didn’t run his race at all.

I heard the jockey say Paisley came back with 2 shoes missing and was more tired than normal after its race. May have been a combination of things.

Brilliant. Better check my a/r to see if he slipped in, lol.

Nice one, BB!

I think I've decided to take on Paisley Park it is just that I have no fecking clue who with. I've backed Penhill as I feel he's been campaigned nice and tidy for this in mind but I really wouldn't be overly confident.

I'm not a fan of the W/O markets tbh, with PP at such a compressed price the value has to be on taking him on straight up.

I'm gutted my boy Thistlecrack isn't here as I'd nearly just left it at him @50s and just sat back and watch what happens. I know Paisley is just a horse who finds the turbos when he's niggled at but I couldn't back him at that price, freak or not and is there going to be a stage where he doesn't find enough?

The problem is that the race is piss poor weak and I have no idea who to turn to to take Paisley on with :highly_amused:

Yep, but never in a million years would I have picked that to be the winner.

he had from with champ minnela indo and paisley and emitom from 2018. the emitom form i was trying to work out his odds vs his form until he won. well done winners :)

Strange race to watch back. With hindsight, I probably didn’t give this race (or division) enough time through the season. I was pretty confident Paisley Park was clear of anything in the race, I didn’t expect any horse to reverse the form and didn’t really rate any of the new challengers being good enough.

I don’t recall any excuses for Paisley Park and watching it back, he has every chance. It’s not like something went horribly wrong that I can pick out, he just didn’t power on like he has in previous 5 races. Just checked and “trainers rep could offer no explanation for the poor performance other than the gelding lost its left-fore and right-hind shoes” – to be honest I’m willing to forgive the run and the double figures that were available for him are now all gone and he’s into 7/1 fav. Not a price I’d take now they’ve got the winner of the race at 16/1 in Lisnager Oscar. The problem I have is the Cleeve Hurdle result where Paisley Park was superior sticks out too much for me to take. It’s probably a bit of a disrespectful price and he shouldn’t be 16/1 to follow up, but I can’t bring myself to take that price.

Lisnager Oscar was prominent behind the leaders all the way through, but he’s leading at the turn and 1L ahead of Ronald Pump. At the end of that straight he’s still leading and 2L ahead of Ronald Pump so it’s very hard to crab that performance. Bacardys cruised into the race like he was going to win it before flattening out, then running on again which was an odd kind of run. Emitom and Summerville Boy were 4[SUP]th[/SUP] and 5[SUP]th[/SUP] but I’d be hard pressed to fancy them agan.

The race as a whole was a bit disappointing and watching back I feel the same. The run of Apple’s Jade was crazy and essentially they've just ignored her, it added something to the race at the time because on her best day they’d given her waaay too much rope but when you watch it back knowing she fades the race is just disappointing as no horses get to one of the ‘outsiders’.

Didn't they find PP to have the infamous Fibrillating heart and it went back to normal withing 48 hours or so and are treating it as a one off?
