Stayers Hurdle 2020

Don't understand why the likes of Benie are entered in Stayers when they are 100% going for another race. Someone explain please....what's the point??

If Paisley Park gets injured and Honeysuckle looks on track for the mares, I'm sure they'd like the chance of going for the Stayers instead?

If she fell at the first in the Mares but was 100% fine, then this would be a decent back up plan.

Entries are so cheap in the scheme of things then can't do any harm. Why not give yourself as many options as possible?

Was definitely the case for many years CCM but rule changes 2/3 years ago prevent horses from declaring/running twice in the week, the change was bought in to combat trainers who gave their horses multiple entries which in turn created false markets.

Most horses this far out will get multiple entries for various reasons such as opposition targets, ground etc...

Im having a shocker today Ista! Thats two schoolboy errors in one day! Id totally forgotten that, cheers.

Yep, just one run, if you declare to run in a race on Tuesday, you cant declare 11am Tuesday (2-day decs) to run in a race on Thursday.

Can't have that at all. Even without PP in Stayers it would still he a harder/deeper race to win than the Mares with just 1 big opponent.

I can see logic in the novice chasers being entered just in case things don't work out but not the likes of Benie. Waste of everyone's time. Maybe just bookies benefit.

I wouldn’t rule Benie out of the Stayers yet, she won the grade 1 in Auteuil in May over the Stayers Hurdle distance. I still think it’s a genuine possibility this year even if there has been little talk of it from connections. We don’t know how Mullins mares are working at home and many of his best horses don’t race that often in a season. I think Mullins will aim a few of his best at the Stayers again as it’s a race he’s done well in over the past 5 years and I think BDD is a real possibility. If I’m wrong it’s cost me a few quid but I’m prepared to take that risk.

Your pocket talking 70’s with Billies , your Post 30? :devilish:

“Real possibility “, personally don’t agree , WPM places horses where he believes they have the best chance of winning and yes that’s my head and pocket talking :highly_amused:

A bit if relief for anyone who thought ITCF might swerve chelt for aintree.

He said: “If The Cap Fits is due to go to for the Cleeve Hurdle, which would be his first run at the track, but it’s not guaranteed. If it’s bottomless he might go straight for the Festival rather than getting to the bottom of him in January.”

With the exception of PP (too short now so only in a couple of doubles) has anyone really got an angle on this race. My guess is that more than half of the top 10 in the betting wont run here, there has to be a bit of value somewhere.

I may just wait until the day and back Bacardys or Summerville Boy without PP

The 2 at the prices for me are Sam's Profile and Not Many Left both 33s preference being with Not Many Left.
