Stayers Hurdle 2020

Iris's Gift - my first festival I think
second in his novice season though and won it the next year as second season hurdler

Without Paisley Park he still won't win though will he ?

Well I don't know...but the market looks like this:

Honeysuckle
If The Cap Fits
Benie Des Dieux
Laurina
City Island
Bacardys
Champ
Minella Indo
Penhill
Emitom (injured?)
Presenting Percy
The Worlds End
Lami Serge - :highly_amused:
Next Destination
Melon
Mr Adjudicator
Thistlecrack

There are a plethora of non runners there....loads of dross too. I don't see how he's a 16/1 shot given how much that'll cut up - let alone 40/1

There is also a distinct lack of opposition if you look at last years

2-5th are all chasing
Supersundae I think they’ve finally admitted he won’t stay

Other opponents:
Penhill - I would be hopeful he will get closer to his form now he has had a run, but still a big ask
Ifthecapfits - is there by virtue of beating Roksana and Apples Jade a combined neck. Hardly looks as good as hoped. However good reappearance and is the only other danger

All the novices are going chasing, bar an outside chance City Island is reverted and stepped up

Ok, so now we're getting more persuasive.
It does look likely to thin out considerably so having a runner is definitely a plus.
And each way also, and obviously at the earlier prices.
I'd imagine the race might thicken a bit nearer the day as the packs get shuffled though as it invariably does.
Funnily enough your best chance is probably Paisley Park remaining fit and running well on trials day. And then looking to sneak a place in a smaller field cos of the Fav.
Still think he gets beat by improvers though.

Hopefully Penhill wallops him today anyway :highly_amused: he's got actual useful form and on his best day would be the best horse Paisley has faced. (Depending on what you consider Thistlecrack's level to be)

PP don't suspend their specials during the race.... so don't be surprised if I back the winner of this race currently running to do "the double".... :highly_amused:

Well I'm on a 66/1 value loser in Apple's Jade for the Stayers Hurdle now :highly_amused:

Also delighted with Bacardys there..... only beaten for fitness - what a great run.

Amazing.

What a horse. GFonna come on loads for that.

There is going to be 2 horses and then w 3 furlongs gap to the rest

Thistlecrack would place in this wouldn't he..?

I'm actually tempted to chance him now.

Missed the King George, but it was up in the air whether he did that or stayed over hurdles?

Would have no chance in a Gold Cup - wouldn't have much chance of reversing form wityh Paisley Park either but at least we know he is good enough on his day to beat all the others?

He'll be 12, and so will Faugheen.
No place for pipe and slippers,
unless it's the foxhunters or cross country.

Neither will win or place I reckon, although you'd get a lovely run for your money for a while, and you never know.
Would definitely bring a tear to the eye.

...and no doubt on the day I'd back him just in case.... at a ridiculously short price.

So I might just do it now and save myself the mither.

Tbf if the cap fits made a howler. Did extremely well to get back up and win.

I've Thistlecrack backed at 50s since October (and was laughed at on here for even suggesting him :highly_amused:), I won't be adding to it given the current price (Hills the only one with a price at all) and knowing Tizzard he'll land him straight into the Gold Cup but he deserves another crack at this.

At the price given I had to back him out of sentiment alone, but his run against PP was fantastic and gives me hope Tizzard will reroute him

Emitom is back on NYD in the Relkeel.

Sams Profile was being kept for this but I've got no idea where he is at the moment. Loved him last season.

Mouse said he was keeping him back for this season, chasing next season.

If Janika runs in the relkeel.
Currently favourite, and wins ?

He should by rights go into the top four or five in the betting.
And they'd be tempted to run him then.
Even though he could still have a crack at the Ryanair (off a rating of 165)

Anyone fancy getting him on the exchange or priced up anywhere, it could be useful.
His breeding almost guarantees he stays and why the fuck they ran him over 2 miles last time I'll never know.
The twat who suggested it didn't even end up riding him. He actually ran quite well considering.

Ditto the above for

Summerville Boy.

Also an obvious stayer to my eye.

For me if any horse in the Relkeel field is to throw down a marker for this, it’ll be Emitom. I’ve taken the 66s with Skybet for the double, very fair price IMO.
