Stayers Hurdle 2020

I'm sure he does... and he probably knows he's a better jockey than Dazza J.

The horse has done it before, you're aware of that well enough to acknowledge that Nico should know it.... yet that then becomes the jockeys fault rather than the horses?

L'ami Serge is a horrid little beast. :highly_amused:

Haha, i'd say it does become his fault when he arrives in front too early? Small field so probably harder to take a pull for longer than in a big field, but i'd say he'd blame himself too!

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on lami serge. yes he'd need an absolute perfect ride but seems to have good pace and can travel in behind paisley. He jumped really well as well.......does 20/1 appeal to anyone?

Absolutely not.

You've got almost no hope of him keeping his head in front.

A horrible, horrible horse as a punter.

If you're a fan of him wait for the day and back him place only and lay the win.

Anyone heard anything about City Island post race today? The reason I write here is that with him suffering a race stopping mistake perhaps they will reroute here and protect novice status for next year?

That’s my hope, have him at 16s for this, and I’ve effectively thrown away the slip

Think it was Al ferof on here who called it that CI would flop over the fences and has it for the Champion Hurdle. But bookies seem to be thinking same lines as you and giving nothing away as best price for Stayers is 16s, some even lower than that!

Hopefully the Exchanges will be kinder should any suggestions be made

16s for a horse that currently is having a novice chase campaign is truly pathetic. Especially when you take into account there is a horse such as Paisley Park at the head of the market

I think 2 mile over fences was too pacey for City Island today. I think he needs another crack but at further so he has chance to get into a rhythm. He was throwing himself at the fences today as they came too soon, I’d try him over further and work back before abandoning a novice chase campaign

They're keeping Penhill going all season, therefore he's going to be tuned up right for today?

Apple's Jade is gone at the game, so there is just Bacardys to beat?

As a previous, impressive, two time course and distance FESTIVAL winner, Penhill at 40/1 to win today and the Stayers Hurdle is a massive price.

1 pt on.

You can't eat value. :highly_amused:

Bacardys 16s for this.... cant see him beat and imagine he’ll be into 8s if he does win

Don't get the fascination for bacardys for this race.
Why is he suddenly going to become a 165 plus rated stayers champion ?
There is no reason why.

It's a fascination with backing a horse that'll be shorter on the day than it is when you back it.

Fundamental stuff.

So is the horse having a chance of winning. Unless you're laying and all that stuff that poofters do :highly_amused:

Before anyone mentions it - it's a slang word from australia and not necessarily derogatory, unless prefixed with 'I hate' or something similar.

Plus the fact that he is going to have a full season hurdling rather than chop and changing with fences would or have me believe he will improve again.

Don’t think he’s the winner just yet but for the time being I will be trying to get PP beat

:highly_amused:

I've heard that once upon a time a horse was fav for a race (a banker, if you will) and it got injured.

When that fav got injured and missed the race they just cancelled the race so despite the race getting blown apart nobody was able to make any money.

40/1 for Bacardys is a good bet, and you won't convince me otherwise so nerrrrrr

Why's he going to improve ?
More hurdling and no switching ?
not convinced

Without Paisley Park he still won't win though will he ?

It's a race that follows a very similar track record to many others and second season novices and horses that are improving are the most likely winners, although this race does get repeat winners,
it's extremely rare to get beaten horses returning to win.
Name one ?
could happen one day I suppose.
