Ryanair 2019

He's an interesting horse Fox Norton.

Only ever had 2 runs at over 2miles (give or take a furlong), PU in the King George, and a 6L (eased down) win in the Melling Chase at Aintree.

One of only a few horses to beat Un De Sceaux over 2 miles, and although that was on good ground, he's not ground dependant himself looking at his form.

Cheltenham form is good, reads: 2311121 (only once on the 'New' course, but that was a 1

I'm tempted to take 16/1 each way, I did already backed NRNB in the QMCC and he's a horse (some may well remember) I was absolutely dead against in his Champion Chase season (when fortunately for me - he was touched off by Special Tiara!).


I think he's certainly worth serious consideration in this field.

He's a good horse
. Not long ago he did the Aintree punchestown double.
They get quickly forgotten about.
He'd have a solid chance here imo.

He was fav for this all the way up until injury last year.
 
Looks to have retained his ability too, 7L behind Altior is decent form isn't it.


Still no superstar in the race, going to be very competitive.

The ones I thought would side step it. Seem to be doing so. Shattered love / Alboum photo/ kemboy seemingly going GC.

Tout est permis / balko des flos wouldn't worry me at all personally.

Waiting patiently. We all know what can happen there. And if he did run and went and won at that price. I could live with that.

Cyryname only goes right handed. He just won a very poor race very well anyway.

Then you've got the rock solid ones

Coney Island was taken out of the Gold Cup - long time since his form was relevant/decent though


Footpad if he ran... probably won't though? Although he's below Min in my pecking order

Sizing John could be a bit of a killer for my bets popping up here. All be it Mr Potts would turn in his grave at the thought of that happening.
And who knows what ability he retains.

You couldn't run a previous Gold Cup winner in the Ryanair though could you?

12/1 the NRNB price... just not big enough to bother with?

I really hope he goes CC. As I put him up 33/1 NRNB each way for that a month ago. In the hope it’s a small field

You'd be kicking yourself if you were playing Fox Norton for place money in the CC and he went and won a Ryanair though? NRNB?

Mhm, 10/1 NRNB wasn't big enough for me last night. I'd want him each way so haven't done anything yet.

I think he's solid, but not standout.

I'm mulling it over still

“He’ll probably go to the Game Spirit Chase in Newbury in a fortnight’s time and then we’ll make a decision (on which race at Cheltenham).

“It’s probably unlikely that he’ll have another crack at Altior, but we know he stays well so the Ryanair could be a strong possibility.”
 
Does Robbie have a ride lined up in either race at the moment?
 
How poorly priced was Waiting Patiently in the King George?

He's a bigger NRNB price for this (11/2) than he was on the day of th king George (4/1) and he doesn't have the stamina doubt?



I do agree he's not worth his rating, and is the LOADS of juice in the price? Obviously note... but he could still prove to be the best of these horses, and he would be shorter on the day?


I don't know why I can't just ignore this horse :highly_amused:
 
A couple of very nice performances from Tout Est Permi. I particularly like the way the horse finished his race. This looks like thew obvious race.
 
"Tout Est Permis is in good form since Thurles," said Meade. "Eddie (O'Leary, racing manager) is quite keen that he'd run in the Ryanair if everything goes well and the ground is soft.

"The handicapper put him up another 7lb, so he's going the right way."
