A bit harsh to say they'd be foolish.

He's been 2nd at the festival over 3 miles twice, Albert Bartlett and RSA Chase, he's just come 2nd in the Savills Chase over 3miles and is open to improvement.

You may not fancy him in a Gold Cup, but nobody buys a horse hoping to win a Ryanair.

There would be a large number of horses more likely to win a Ryanair than a Gold Cup, doesn't mean they'll run where they should, as it's the Gold Cup.


Personally I'd like Monalee in here, but to call them foolish for not doing is a step too far.
 
Did anyone catch any comments regarding Shattered Love's run?

I diddnt. But unless she gets her ground at chelt. It dosent look hopeful. A lot of shocks around Christmas. But the grounds the opposite to what it was at chelt. And all the main races last year.

Perhaps it was a tad harsh. Though it wasn’t aimed at the trainer who apparently wanted Monalee in the JLT last season but the owner had a big antepost bet for the RSA.

I think for the interest of the horse winning a race at the festival, the Ryanair would be the one. And I’m on him there at 14/1 so perhaps that’s m pocket talking.
 
I was very impressed with monalee’s jumping, I can’t see them aiming at anything else apart from the GC now
 
Monalee stayed on as well as anything on Friday. Just didn't have the pace of the winner.
 
I still can't find any comments re Shattered Love. Would think Monalee will GC bound now

If you take it literal. Alpha des obeaux has had 3 runs this season and was Beat 3L by kemboy (1st start) who was receiving 6 pounds.

Alboum photo is giving a lump of weight away all round tomorrow coming in fresh. They was also adamant total recall would have been 3rd in the gold cup. And he went well fresh last year. So this race looks a good prospect tomorrow and no easy task.
 
Why dont they aim Monalee at this race. It jumps great and would be perfect trip. It races keenly let it go from the front and I reckon it would take some beating. They will of course go for the GC but it has no chance. It clearly doesn't get 3 miles with its style of racing and has already been beaten by some most of the others around Chelts. No chance up the hill. Just dont get why they will end up running it in a race it cant win rather than a race it would have a great chance.

A lot on here agree with you, but the Gold cup is the Gold cup

He was on Racing TV today and said he picked Bellshill in the Lexus so he still has a big say in what he rides.
 
He gets the choice when Paul is elsewhere but not necessarily when they're in the same race.
