Ryanair 2019

Before last season, Willie said that he wouldn't have a problem with Min going up in trip and I doubt that the Durkan will have changed his mind. As ever, he'll make multiple entries and make his mind up at the last minute to maximise his options.

It always surprises me when people assume that they know how 'it works' at Closutton. Patrick, Ruby and, increasingly, David Casey have their say but Willie makes the final call. Ruby's injury record would suggest that they won't go anywhere near organising the horses around his availability but there's also the complication in Ireland that they'll be doing their damnedest to get the jockeys' title for Paul.

Bang on, the cash out availability on decs days and when B365 shut it down could be a key factor for some on here.
Can anyone remember exactly how B365 played it last year.
For example, using Min - Assuming they don't state a definite target.
On the Monday Morning of DEcs for the Wednesday, and you're sat on a good value price for Ryanair.
If declared for Champion, what would B365 do ? as it could technically run in both.

Anyone have Douvan last year for both ? And what did they do with the Ryanair bet ?
I would have though they'd suspend cash out early that morning.

Nicholls doesn't know why Politilogue hasn't finished off his race at Cheltenham. He mentioned the tongue-tie first used at Aintree might help.

You'd know before then.

Can't remember
Did we know Douvan was going Champion ?

Not listened yet, but I guess he didn't read my posts and get on at 18s and 12s :devilish:

He's half right. Best trip is 2 miles. No point in taking on Altior though.

I've listened now.

I'd not disagree, (if anyone can be bothered looking back), I've said that I think he's a two miler however isn't good enough to win a Champion Chase, and the Ryanair will be weaker, therefore his best chance of winning (will need a good ride).

I was thinking on the way too while listening,m the [oint about Min not settling, if we have some of these stayers (Monalee?) in the race, Min will have a strong pace to run at. If he can travel at a stronger pace, I think he'll sprint past these staying types as he's just classier.

Best chance of getting him beat will be to go slow and he'll pull his chance away (unless Un De Sceaux's exact Ryanair win reproduces itself!)

Can see Un De Sceaux going off as he does, Min will get pace to aim at, and Willie wins the race with either of them. UDS will either get away and win or Min will travel, thanks to the UDS pace setting and win well enough.

Or there's the possibility Min travels as superbly as he often does, and the gets outstayed by a better stayer over a stiff 2 mile 5?

Looks like we nailed the forcast then :triumphant:

Do you think the Ryanair will be weaker simply because there's no Altior to beat ?
Cos it looks distinctly like more will come here than usual and it could be pretty competitive.
If Presenting Percy looks as good in his preps as he did in the RSA that might sway even more in this direction.
Could have a four runner champion chase I reckon

Exactly this

Sorry have I missed something?

Which renrewals of the Ryanair have been won by a stayer, outstaying the best horse in the race?

I've been back through and put my two pennies in on it, but this notion that stayers win the Ryanair is being taken for granted... I feel I've shown that is ISN'T always the case?

This could be one of the best/deepest Ryanair's we've seen. The presence of Altior in the Champion Chase will no doubt send horses in this direction.

UDS
Min
Politilogue
Waiting Patiently
Top Notch
Balko Des Flos
Monalee
Fox Norton
Terrefort
Charbel
Willoughby Court

Footpad, Shattered Love and even Might Bite could potentially end up here (extremely unlikely).

I had half an eye on Rather Be for this but after writing down that list I've gone off him:highly_amused:

Kind of!

Competitve not as sure, potentially more horse so I suppose it is my default. My point is that Min is the classiest horse in the race (unless Might Bite, Altior, Douvan or Footpad run) - the debate is whether that class is enough to fend off these ones that are going to 'out stay' him.

I've backed Min at 18s and 12s, Shattered Love at 16s and Monalee 16s/14s so I will see how the rest of the year pans out before getting too dogmatic about it all.

You can scrap waiting patiently and fox Norton. Willoughby courts not good enough. Neithers terrefort. Charbel looks an unlikely runner.
