RSA Chase 2020

RSA for him then, Samcro pretty much certain for JLT and C Chaser sticking to last season plan and 4 miler. Easy Game this !

Although I’ve got a Champagne Classic in a couple of bets, I’m not going to rule him out of the RSA just yet as he’s look decent enough so far. BOD is nailed on for the RSA though, it’s just a case of if he’ll be good enough. He may prove better with a faster pace and better horses to aim at so that he does not need to be in front so long.

He’s one we’ve been looking forward to going chasing with. He did quite well as a staying novice hurdler last season, winning a Grade 3 and being placed in Grade 1s at the Cheltenham and Punchestown festivals. He’s had a little hold-up – he tore off a shoe and jabbed a foot – but he should be running at some stage next month and we’re hopeful of a good campaign in the top staying novice chases.

Because of the unusually dry spell last winter he ran only twice, winning a 2m6f maiden hurdle at Limerick before running third in a Grade 1 over 3m at the Punchestown festival. He won a point-to-point before winning two bumpers and chasing was always going to be his game. He might start off in a 2m5f beginners' chase at Fairyhouse on November 30.

Just watched the race back. I’m happier than I thought with that. Any Second Now is a 150 rated festival winner who ran his race and Battleoverdoyen beat him comfortably. It wasn’t flashy and BOD was given no help with ASN jumping across him and fences being missed out but overall I thought it was a good performance without being anything to get too carried away over. I expect him to get better and fitter with every run and providing he impresses over Xmas, all roads will lead here.

I can't see Any Second Now as anywhere near 150 myself. That Kim Muir was a very poor race and he's best judged on other handicaps that he failed to win off low 140s.

Good to hear Allaho going for top staying chases. Screams 4 miler to me. Patrick !, Remember to forget to enter him for RSA please.

Walk Away is tempting me a little for this. Only in the betting with 365 (50s) and Unibet (66).

Jumped a little untidy throughout but nothing major, probably looked like he'd be better left handed to me. Came swinging when Faugheen lost some ground, but in the end was pushed out to be a good second. Clearly not beating Faugheen at this stage over 2m4. HDB has said he's a proper stayer and that was a reasonably strong beginners on the whole. That's only his 5th start in his life + he's clearly going to need to keep improving to get near here, or even turn up at all, as he didn't go to the festival last year. He has 13Ls to find with Champ probably feels unlikely at this stage, but Aintree was his 3rd race including his point vs Champ's 9.....

If you take Faugheen out of that race and he's now probably being talked a good bit more about. Ifs and buts of course.

One i'll keep my eye on at this stage but he's promising.

Minella Indo entered up over 2m4f at Gowran on Saturday. Laurina’s in there too.

Sorry chaps if your on the Champ double for kauto and RSA this is Nicky from today, doesnt sound too hopeful

"Also not in attendance for a morning in front of the Newbury members was novice chaser Champ, but he’ll be back for the Festival itself where he’ll likely head for the Graded contest over two and a half miles before a crack at the Dipper Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham in the New Year.

So no Kempton outing for him on Boxing Day as things stand, but clearly a horse with the brightest of futures and one which namesake McCoy was happy enough to label “a future Gold Cup horse, with a bit of luck.”

Thanks for the update. I had a feeling yesterday after giving myself a somewhat premature ante post pat on the back that bad news would follow today. How right I was. Oh well, 1pt bites the dust.

Thanks billy.
The perils of AP punting, it was a decent punt at the price....

Maybe best to leave MI alone until after this weekend as he takes some getting fit according to trainer. Price might increase if he gets beat.

I'd agree with that.

If not already on, I wouldn't be now.

RSA winner in waiting though ;)

Yeah agreed, I touched on that point somewhere in here before, but that card at Gowran doesn't look the strongest on paper and MI should probably be up to winning it first time out!
