RSA Chase 2019

La Bague won't be winning at the festival. I hope she wins this weekend as she's one I'll be looking to lay.

She'd still be double figures even if she won do you reckon?

I reckon you'll be laying long odds on.

Underwhelming final decs for Newbury tomorrow pretty much a rematch of the meeting earlier this month with Spiritofthegames thrown in. Hopefully Saturday’s 3miler will be a more exciting contest but I’m not expecting Santini to start out at 3m over the big obstacles. There’s plenty of rain forecast for Saturday morning which might help make up a few minds that are on the fence.

I think it will be quite an informative race, should be run at a fair pace too with both LBAR & Lostintranslation in the field. I could quite see them taking each other on at the front end and one of the other two having the run of the race and winning it.

It certainly will be but I was hoping to get a good look at Santini over fences in a competitive race, that’s probably what has me slightly disappointed.

Have had a nibble at the 10/1 PP are offering about Topofthegame for the Ladbrokes John Francome Novice Chase on Saturday in the hope/anticipation he will be declared tomorrow. I know he had a racecourse gallop there a fortnight ago & jumped a few fences and Nicholls said this would be his starting point so fingers crossed.

Santini won’t be starting over 3m according to to Nicky, Lil Rockerfeller ran last weekend, Talkischeap & La Bague are running tomorrow so 10/1 seems very big to me if he’s an intended runner.

Was surprised Santini wasn't declared for the 2m4f race at Newbury tomorrow. Wonder where he will run.

Suppose the Bangor race would represent a nice easy start and he might prefer that.

There's a 2m 3f novice chase at Donny in a fortnight, I'll be there and hope he runs him there. He ran both Might Bite and Sprinter Sacre their in their novice season, though sprinter;s race was over 2m. I think he likes the fences and the home straight for novices,

I think the going may have influenced the decision tbh, currently on the good side of good to soft with dry day forecast tomorrow the rain is due at Newbury on Saturday morning so hopefully nice safe conditions for the trainers to let’s the wraps off!

From Harry Derhams blog

“With this weekend’s Ladbroke winter carnival to look forward to, Newbury opened their gates on Tuesday for a morning of gallop watching, with Paul eager to get Topofthegame out on the grass he jumped at the chance of giving him a school down the Newbury back straight so off to Berkshire we headed.

This was without doubt the highlight of my week. It was great to see Topofthegame accompanied by Chameron stretching out over the back straight at Newbury and hopefully that will stand him in good stead for when he runs in the not too distant future. Really high class horses like him embarking on a chasing career is what our game is all about and I am looking forward to seeing him out on the track this season.”

I like this, as I have Santini for the RSA & Kilbricken for the NH Chase, so hoping Santini wins well and Tizzard can think about putting KS in the NH Chase instead of the RSA :devilish:

Will be a cracker, looking forward to seeing Santini jump a fence!

Can't wait. His jumping potential has been one of the things keeping me excited all summer!

I hope he isn't another disappointment first time out this season

I'm not sure that told us much there.

LBAR beat Talkischeap by a distance less than that of their previous running. I think it definitely showed Lostintranslation up for not being a JLT prospect, he's too slow, and pedigree always suggested he'd need a trip anyway. For all that, he made an absolute howler at one which took the wind out of him at a time in the race when it truly mattered so for that I do think the distance he was beat was irrelevant.

LBAR done all she could, so not going to sit here and crab her, but personally I wouldn't want to be on her for any race at the festival. As has been pointed out, she loves this time of the year, and she does seem to get found out during that period of the festivals.

Lostintranslation could go RSA or 4 miler, no idea which, but has the pedigree of a stayer.

Agree on LBAR not one for cheltenham for me. I wouldn't right of Lostintranslation yet though was still there before the really awful mistake but before that had jumped well to my eye, but would need to see if that mistake affects him nto. Talkischeap I like a lot low and quick at most of his fences and definitely wants a step up in trip so either RSA or the Ultima.

Definitely not giving up on Lostintranslation but don't see him as a JLT horse. Agree about Talkischeap, think it will be the handicap route though personally.

I can see LBR being this seasons Black Corton. Winning races of a similar nature, but won't quite make the grade come March.
