RSA Chase 2018

Not with Alan King training her she won't ;):highly_amused:

Good point, well made.:highly_amused:

I haven't actually heard any update on Mia's Storm? Is this still the target? (Is she on track)?

I had death duty also. For the jlt and the rsa.

Also had West approach/ ballyoptic at 1 point but managed to cashout for full stake on them 2.

West approach makes no sense to me. He seems to run better at 2m5 but when he runs over 3 he seems slow. Might sound crazy to some but id put him in the jlt. He seems to cut out at the end of his races over 3. Will be interesting to see him at the weekend if he runs.

Probably just a notch below and flattered by racing in open company as a novice? That ride from Ruby behind UNWIMH certainly put him on the map.

I have been disappointed all season with him really, but had a big price on exchange that I've left.

And that will be awkward when Shattered Love steams home ;)

Good luck with them though mate :)

She's very likeable, tough and her mares allowance will help.
Just not 1 for me in this race :)

I nibbled him at jlt huge prices. He's not 1 to be on but he's one that interests me to watch. As a spectacle I hope he runs at the weekend because I think for once tizzards put him in the right race. Whether he's good enough to get anywhere close in the scilly isles possibly not. but I think everything's to suit. And that will be as good as he is

Might Bite 2017
Blaklion 2016
Don Poli 2015
O'Faolains Boy 2014
Lord Windemere 2013
Bobs Worth 2012

What strikes me most about the last 6 winners is that bar last years, (who is all fairness seemed at least 7lbs clear of anything else despite the winning margain) is that they're all just really strong stayers. "Plodders" in the nicest way...

WHich horse in the betting at the moment could you envisage being part of that list? I wouldn't say Monalee looks an out and out stayer, in fact, and that I thik could do well in the JLT I might put a line through... bar Might Bite, none of those would have had a prayer over shorter?

I'd say Monalee, Yanworth, Invitation Only, Al Boum Photo, Shattered Love, Benetar all would have pace for shorter? Might not be optimum but they'd not be disgraced?

Percy and Fountains Windfall on that rational, I think have a nicer "profile"? Black Corton too...

^ thinking out loud here...

By process of elimination as to what is going to turn up in this race I think she is an extremely big price at 14/1, we know she is definitely coming here, in fact she is one of the only ones I can be confident will turn up to this race. I really like Sutton Place too, but think he is JLT bound along with Invitation Only, Willoughby Court, Benatar and even potentially Monalee, though if it was down to me the latter would be running in this too.

As for the rest, Presenting Percy she has finished in front of already this season and to be honest his target is not definite anyway, I can't have Fountains Windfall, maybe its the same old 'unfashionable trainer' thing but not for me, Yanworth could end up in the Stayers' though likely I suspect will end up here and he would be one, despite being trained by King, that may be of interest too, another reason though why Sutton Place goes for the JLT as I'm sure JP will want to keep them 2 apart, Black Corton has done a hell of a lot of racing already this season, and at some point that will surely catch up on him, whether that's at Cheltenham who knows, but he's been consistent and you can't argue with that.

Apart from the ones mentioned above I see nothing else of note that really looks as though they will come here with any sort of hope, at a push maybe Al Boum Photo as Willie may want to keep him and IO apart, but I think I'm clutching there, on the whole I think it could be a race that falls apart and a 14/1 consistent, almost guaranteed runner is good enough for me.

Boston bob fell at the last when all over the winner. I think it was the year Lord Windermere won. He was a boat himself.

And many clouds the year was travelling very well when he fell and ofailans boy won obviously went on to win the national.

Percy to be fair is that sort of type. Strange for a horse that's ran in a CH but yanworth is looking more and more that sort of type.

Elegant escape also if that's the type your looking for.

I deffinately wouldn' put fountains windfall in the slower category though.

Don poli was an awful renewal behind him with coneygree going GC

I loved Don Poli but in the fulness of time he wasn't as good as I thought.

I need to watch Fountains Windfall back to be fair, falling twice has clouded my memory of him travelling/finishing(obviously).

CoD - I think taking the PP defeat behind SL too literally is dangerous BUT your point is that the price between the two is too big, which I can agree with.

As I am still not heavily invested in this race (despite backing a few) ... I've got LOADS of wiggle room, and I think I'll be finding an absolute boat...

Black Corton is at the top of my list atm - didnt think I'd be saying that at the start of the season.
Little battler, we know he jumps well. Thought Nichols would have put him away during winter, but he's continued to perform extremely well!! Despite softer conditions. Didnt really want to back something that's been out alot this season, but there's nothing sticking out at the moment

I really want to side with Elegant Escape... but struggling. I can't see Colin turning this form around anytime soon, and EE form last year was pretty poor - 100/1 in the AB... meh!

The question I have is should both PP & Monalee turn up here, who does Davy Russell ride?

I think the question has been asked before, but couldn't remember the conclusion, for me I think Monalee.

FWIW, I do also have this feeling that PP either won't turn up for this race or possibly even the festival though, but IF he does, the question above applies.

Russell would almost certainly ride PP given that he doesn't partner Monalee on Sunday.

Ahhh yes! Hadn't even checked jockey bookings for Sunday tbh, so thanks for the heads up. Everyone can ignore my question now :very_drunk::highly_amused:

I think Fehily getting the leg up on Monalee in the Flogas is a clue that HdB is leaning towards the RSA. With Presenting Percy heading down the same route & tying up Davy Russell it makes sense to give Noel the nod on Sunday.

Yeah that'd make sense.

I thought Davy would be pushing for Monalee JLT but that seems very unlikely if he isn't on board for the Flogas!

Interesting Davy is on Tombstone perhaps? One for the Davy Russell Handicap notebook ... *Watch this space*

Superb race. Think we may have just seen two Festival winners there.

Monalee for the RSA and Invitation Only for the JLT. Think we are done on IO for the RSA now Kev. You'd think Al Boum Photo will head to that race after that.

Al Boum Photo looked to be staying on well there, one that certainly hasn't gone unnoticed on here or by me.

Still like Shattered Love, despite many on here not too keen on her, Monalee fell when against her so no form line can be taken from his win today, but she is overpriced still.

Had monalee for the RSA but didn't back him today, wish I did as that was a tough race today for him...

Dounikos 50/1 with sj. Not nrnb but huge ran a race full of promise.

I wouldn't be too confident on how they'd split them up tro be honest.... IO was too short for the JLT for me to back and he's been beaten quite fairly there?

AL Boum Photo didn't jump quickly but I think he's a better horse than IO based on today.... Not put off anything in any race....

Monalee is very likeable - no single on him for this race but a double with Samcro at 27/1

He's actually in the ante post forum yankee isn't he...

Didn't have him on my mind before that... any chance they'd go RSA?

I'll probably risk that to be honest
