I think Skelton is in a bit of a transition. He's the number one trainer in England from a money perspective but needs to move from winners to graded winners. So wouldn't shock me if he does "take the easy route" when it appears to take more big Saturday TV race wins. A bit like how Brian Hughes is often champion jockey but is nowhere at Cheltenham.
He's changed his focus towards this in the last couple of years (with the main focus being the title mind) and he's had plenty of graded winners to be fair. Of his graded runners at Chelt, only two finished outside of the top 10 (one was a 125/1 shot in the bumper) so I'd say he's maximising the ammo he's got to be fair

I drafted a really good case (and then lost it) for

Brighterdaysahead Mare Hurdle

And

Wodooh Stayers Hurdle

Talk me out of it. Before Aintree!

Seems worth a speculative punt at the prices, 546/1 with Unibet

Can't talk you out of Wodhooh for the Stayers, a bit like Lossiemouth for me, she's got her Mares Hurdle win, now time to step her up.

Teahupoo won't be winning another Stayers Hurdle, IMO, and as I had previously said, I'm not at all convinced by Honesty Policy over 3m, yet. Step forward, Wodhooh.

I hadn't considered wodhooh but that seems a sensible cover bet that I'll probably add before she next runs.

I snaffled 33s on The New Lion 25s and a smaller bet on JDV at 25s. Also added Ballyburn last week at 10/1

Along the same thinking that Wodhooh steps up to Stayers I prefer Wodhooh (Stayers) and Jade De Grugy (Mares Hurdle). I think Brighterdaysahead will go Chasing next season. It is now or never for her to go Chasing me thinks. Have I talked you out of it ? ;);)

The problem with Wodhooh is that she is becoming a bit of a 'banker' for Elliott at the meeting. She may stay in the mares hurdle just to give him a great chance of a winner, rather than step up in trip and class and risk not having a winner.

They've said that a couple of times in the past and the theory has always been she doesn't jump a fence very well...

If Wodooh was stepping up it would make sense for Gordon to replace her with something in the Mares Hurdle as well. That's kind of the point of the bet.

Might stick Lossiemouth Champion Hurdle in as well actually, for fear she could turn up in the Mares and ruin the lot.

Maybe Oldschool Outlaw would be his one for the Mares?

Not sure if there’s been any quotes about her target next year.

She looks a ready made replacement for Wodhooh doesn't she should she step up to the Stayers.

Has no form anywhere near the league of Brighterdaysahead does she.

For all she should've won the Mares Novice. There's every chance they're all gash.

No novice is going to have form to match BDA just from lack of opportunity.

But she's got a better Cheltenham record, it's clear BDA doesn't act here as well as the Irish tracks.

You’d imagine Jack would be pushing for one of BDA or Wodhooh to go Mares even if Old School does go Mares too.

BDA finishing 2nd to Lossie and Golden Ace at Cheltenham doesn’t look too bad with excuses for the poor performance last year.

Going to try and tread carefully with the J.P.
Horses this time round , I got a fair few wrong , this year..
Davy Crockett , Irancy , Love me Tender , The Wallpark and F.t.file - unusual circumstances there though..
I have backed T.n.Lion for the stayers , but i think I'll wait for a bit more info for the others. Inothewayurthinkin slightly tempting for g.c. , but i think maybe G.N. next year. ?.

Story on ATR that BDA going chasing next season.

‘She’s going chasing next year and she was good as a novice there a few years ago, so we know she will handle the track well,” said Eddie O’Leary of owners Gigginstown House Stud.

“This year she has run her race at Cheltenham so no one can say she doesn’t handle Cheltenham now, she just got beaten by a superior mare on better ground that day. They are two great mares.

“Hopefully she gets to Aintree and all will be well with her. She’s crying out for the step up in trip, she needs it.”

O’Leary added: “She’s going chasing, so she’s probably had her last tussle with Lossiemouth now, but they are two wonderful mares.”

I don’t understand why they still believe she needs to step up in trip when all her best performances have been at 2m over the last two seasons?……..trainer and owner keep saying it…..so IF they are proved right then she will be better than her current OR 159 and 165 RPR…….Mares Hurdle @20/1 looks value if she jumps like a table as she did when they tried chasing before.

They put me away with the ‘going chasing’ statement last year as I took the 20/1 for the Arkle, however shes in my Arkle book @ 33/1 for next years just in case she can now jump ok and they realise she has the speed for 2 miles!😄
