Maughreen as well potentially RR.

Kargese will surely stick to 2m . She'd be running on fumes up the Hill in a Mares Hurdle.
I’m not so sure. I think she’s got enough stamina for the mares chase, and probably better than JDG

Just to follow up Durham Edition's post in the October Yankee thread, an Anzadam win in the Fighting Fifth may be another nudge for Lossiemouth to go Mare's Hurdle. The Anzadam (FF) and Lossiemouth (MH) double currently pays 12/1 with WillHill and could be an early way of getting the Mare onside at a reasonable price, especially if you are concerned about Anzadam remaining fit for the season. If you really want to go for glory then an Anzadam (FF), State Man (CH) & Lossiemouth (MH) treble pays 96.5/1 with Unibet which could be a nice bit of value if you believe both Con Hill and TNL will turn up in the FF and this bet relies on Anzadam beating them both. You could also tie it in with the Anzadam FF & CH related double at 20/1 being offered if you also want to cover Anzadam for CH.

I'd be a touch worried they actually go FF with Anzadam

I know they are saying theyre targeting that race with him, but with him now being 11/4 ante, I think I'd rather hold off until decs are done then maybe play 9/4 2/1 if the other 2 turn up? Bit of a risk but there's been no rain for so long I doubt they'll risk him without much cut in the ground.

Yes, valid point. If it came up fast they could well wait for the Christmas Hurdle. I definitely don't see Lossiemouth going to Kempton again. Could then still go Irish Champion against State Man (As very few options unless dropping to a grade 3 or stepping up in trip) before Cheltenham.

Sounds like Dan isn't keen on Xmas Hurdle for TNL so could be an easier option for Anzadam to start back. International Hurdle could fit in if they wish to avoid State Man.

Yes, good idea, and gives him much needed Cheltenham experience, albeit on the New Course. Always forget the International as it's a grade 2, though with the prize money on offer and the illustrious winners in the last two seasons, there must be grounds for upgrading that status.

With the prospect of the 3 turning up I think they'd be stupid not to ensure the word 'Soft' was in the description on race day. Just keep watering if necessary.

….29th Nov is a fair way off and there could be plenty of rain before then.

Apparently they've been watering since August to get this weekends fixture at Cheltenham on.

Watering to maintain grass growth.
They have to get a good covering of grass to head into the Winter with when nothing grows....

….with @darlojim sweet on Mange Tout and @Runragged the same re Kalypso’chance, I noticed this at the end of the Elliot RP stable tour;

Expert view
The trainer

Kalypso'chance won a couple of bumpers last year. He was very impressive at Navan the day Patrick Mullins rode him but lost his way late in the season. He has got very strong and I think he'll make a very good novice hurdler this season. The other one I'll pick is Mange Tout. She's been catching my eye a lot lately.
Gordon Elliott

Kalypso 50-1 Turners/Mange 12-1 TH
Double is 662-1 with 365.

Should we be thinking about related bets for the fighting fifth on Saturday as a number of markets could be affected by the result of the race?

Obviously depending upon how each horse runs in the race and how much they win by or are beaten by, then there may be some related bets for consideration

1) The New Lion 7/4 with maybe Sir Gino 20/1 for CH ?………as Sir Gino could be rerouted post Cons Hill being beaten (same trainer) and Anzadam (same owner) being beaten. Then also trebled with Marine Nationale 4/1 and Majborough 5/1 for the CC as they both will shorten if Sir Gino is re routed to the CH?

2) Cons Hill 6/4 with maybe The New Lion 40/1 Stayers Hurdle?……as TNL may not have the speed for the CH, being beaten by Cons Hill on Sat and where else will he go? To late to go chasing this season I would have thought

3) Anzadam 3/1 with maybe The New Lion 40/1 Stayers Hurdle?……also maybe add Lossiemouth 9/4 for the Mares Hurdle in a treble as Mullins will have his CH horses for Townend to ride etc?……also to late to go chasing I would have thought

Probably many more related contingencies to consider but Saturdays FF has implications on a number of festival markets inc CH, CC, Stayers, Mares Hurdle, so maybe worth a few speculative doubles, trebles 😀

You are right, but also I would say it is too early days to be thinking a season depends on how they get on in this. Maybe Anzadam winning may increase the chance of Lossie to Mares. The rest it is still early days in a long season.

I would normally agree, but for two of the protagonists in particular, then I think Saturdays race is more important than for a normal first race of the season

The New Lion is stepping up into open company for the first time and over 2m rather than the 2 1/2 he was campaigned over the whole of last season……can he cut it at 2m?

Cons Hill is coming back from what was a disappointing season last year, firstly with his jumping (or lack of it!) and his blowout in Ireland ……is he regressive or is he back to something like his best and can he jump?

And as for Anzadam, is he a G1 hurdler, as we haven’t yet seen him compete at the top table?

Hopefully we should get a good steer from Saturdays race, if not absolute clarity……and in turn where their respective focus will be for races further into the season ahead

I agree there are questions to be answered. However, I don't see The New Lion being campaigned towards the Stayers because he got outpaced on seasonal return on first start at 2m in open grade 1 company. If he was then left behind in the International as well then it may start raising doubts. Con Hill equally has plenty to prove in a different guise. However, if he is comfortably beat, or runs poorly again, is that season over? What else are they going to do with him? Assuming all is well with the horse fitness wise he will still go to Kempton at Xmas. I just don't see any decisions being made based on the outcome of this race though lets just hope they all get round and we get the race it promises to be.

If Cons HIll runs like he did in Ireland last season, then I could see him either retired or start a campaign on the flat !🤣

Can’t wait to see the race on Saturday👍

….in light of the stat of Mullins Festival Novice Hurdle winners not making their debut until Dec, I’ve dutched;

DDM (Sup) & Fou de Toi (Turn) 1,325-1; FDT (Sup) & DDM (Turn) 152-1 with 365 cash-out.
