Queen Mother Champion Chase 2020

As a betting proposition, it’s a bit of a nightmare right now for people not on some already(although it seems everyone on here has the big CPS prices) but as a racing fan, this could just be a belter.

Potentially:
- Altior
- Chacun Pour Soi
- Defi Du Seuil
- Cilaos Emery
- A Plus Tard
- Douvan
- Un De Sceaux

Be hard pressed to find a field at the festival in recent years as classy as that if they all made it.

If I were starting again from scratch I would back DDS @ 4/1 and Cilaos Emery @ 9/1, they would be my two against the field.

I'm covered on Cilaos, but i'd probably add Chacun next i think. Granted he didn't insert himself into superstar status at Leopardstown, it's worth looking at the actual performance + it seemed a good reappearance vs a fitter horse. For all i've regularly questioned A Plus Tard i'll admit. On RPRs, he has ran to his punchestown performance on reappearance. So if there's something to work on there, i'd say he's very much up there with the best of them. Granted, Mullins etc. seemed confident going into christmas with him, but its worth remember horses like Kemboy didn't bolt up either. A lot of Mullins have needed the runs, even when being strong in the market.

Can crab his punchestown run all you like as other horses had ran at other festivals, but this is a horse that was having his third chase start that day which for me, is everybit as important.

"So why do you as the public think its ok to get info to help you as a punter whether via trainer quotes, interviews. Reading tipsters, paying for tipsters, gallop watching, trends stats."

You have lumped a mixed bag together there where each is vastly different.

If a trainer makes a comment live on air it is then up to the individual to decide on its merit.

As for the rest of that group qouted such as Tipsters, work watchers and such like, I can only say good luck to anyone that wants to gamble on such info, Warren Hill gallops is the kiss of death in my experience and tipsters is for the lazy.

"Why should a punter be allowed to seek info to help them but the bookmaker shouldnt?"

That was my original point that they always have acted on such and I was drawing the comparison that by bets placed or sponsorship amounts to the same result.

Which is what all major businesses do.

Why should a punter be allowed to seek info to help them but the bookmaker shouldnt?

Allowing a trainer to purposefully manipulate customers is wrong. Trying to find out as much info as possible to give you an edge is fair on both the bookmakers side and the punters side. Its the game.

Completely agree with you there. Couldn’t have put it any better.

All part of antepost betting imo, we try and get early big prices on horses bookmakers may have missed and bookmakers will have their own ‘tactics’ to get an edge on punters. Cash out recently is a huge advantage to bookmakers on a general bet. Eg if you place an Acca on the football you have placed whatever you can afford to lose. Cash out now allows bookmakers to offer a lower return and plenty folk take it in fear their bet might not come in. They wouldn’t offer it if it didn’t benefit them, can almost guarantee they will come out on top in it.

Not getting into Ladbrokes etc. but this unibet, hendo thing stinks.

Anyone remember the Henderson lad who had a seven timer off at Cheltenham and won a £m placed in January.

When Henderson was asked to comment on TV he responded "I would like to know how he knew what would run where back then" which says it all given the multi entries system.

That is no different to "Edging" which has gone on since the introduction of bookmaking.
But it saves the layer from having to spend cash on the edged bet with a bookmaking rival.

If Henderson gets a 3 month ban today and isnt allowed any runners at Cheltenham will the bookmakers refund all henderson ante post bets or will they just be deemed losers? Officially they are losers but you would hope they would still refund bets.

Haha yes. touched a nerve- arrogant twat!

Henderson is such an arrogant twat he thinks he’s beyond reproach ...we’ll hes not :mad-new:

Good on ya :applause:

The betting rules need addressing regarding entries and non runners but that’s not going to happen is it !

I’d like to know how much money Unibet have made out of numerous Henderson withdrawn horses

You can only use the ones pre-set or they won't format.

Haha I know the 1 I want but it will take me time to find and provide the thread:)

The difference between a trainer quote on air and a bookie sponsored column is that the trainer will have actually said the quote on air. The bookie columns are generally written by the bookie PR team and pay to license the trainer/jockey's image (there are exceptions to this rule of course)
