Queen Mother Champion Chase 2019

Just out of interest do you genuinely think st calvados finishes infront of sceau royal on Saturday?

No, I think Saint Calvados will be trying to win the race and will not be able to beat Altior, so Sceau Royal will have a flattering 'placed effort'.

I'd back SC in a 2 horse race against SR but I am not expecting SC to win the Tingle Creek.

I'd love it if he's better than I thought though.

Absolute madness but I genuinely think SR can put it up to Altior. I'd be dissapointed if he's not atleast 2nd. im sure Altior will beat him and get past but I just think he can have him at it and not win as comfortable as usual.

I’m at sandown this weekend, looking forward to seeing altior again. I’m hoping most of the candidates take up their chance in the race. Had a bad feeling all week that altior will have a below par/ off day race on Saturday. I have no reason to think this or evidence to back it up so we will see

Don't worry thistlecracker, he will be 'niggled along' 2 out before that engine and speed kicks in and he will then bolt up on the absolute snaff.

Wouldn't be the worst thing if Altior does run below par. We will just get a better price for March!

There becomes a time for every horse where he's just not quite as good anymore or lost half a yard of pace. I'm not saying that's the case with Altior but Until he reappears, who knows.

Would be great to see Great Field come across for the Tingle creek, but I doubt it.

I do have a suspicion Min could come over, would think they will save the race at cork for UDS as his owners are from there I believe

Does anyone else think Altior at 4/6 this weekend, is absolutely buying money? :very_drunk:

Ummm, I don't to be honest.

I think you would find a horse the same price on the day with less 'niggles'. (Lalor would be one in fact, he's evens against horses he's already beaten in last time out)

None of these are huge sticks to beat Altior with but they'd give you reason to have a bit of caution:
Altior hasn't faced Sceau Royal yet (so it's an unknown)
Saint Calvados beat Footpad last time out
Willie may send over 56 time grade 1 winner Un De Sceaux, or the exciting Great Field too
First time out... will we see a Buveur D'air or a Might Bite
Last run at Sandown he beat San Benedeto 3L - which I'd expect the rest of the horses could do too.

He'll probably win, but I wouldn't hammer Altior in a single personally at 4/6, when Lalor is Even (and I'm sure there will be plenty of others!)

Some fair points, he will eventually lose but right now he is arguably the best horse in training and is still at a fairly prime age.

It's funny how we'll be watching Altior being pushed along way out while SR is tanking along on the bridal...yet he will still overtake him and cruise to a 5+ length win :devilish:

I'm not shy of getting stuck into a shortie Gilly and I have always thought Altior is a machine who could go unbeaten for 5 years, so I do tend to agree with you, but this is NH racing and get one of the railway wrong and it could be all over, but this is a proven horse over all courses on all going and there are guaranteed to be far far worse 4/6 shots around this week...

Willie Mullins says Un De Sceaux goes to Sandown for Tingle Creek on Saturday at tonight's HRI_Racing

Plenty confirming it on twitter now:

What a time to be alive!

Haha, without the Cheltenham hill to save him? 1m7.5f? ALTIOR tapped for toe.:devilish:

For the record, I know Altior is a far superior horse right now, I've been a huge fan (how can you not be) since his Supreme win and I don't doubt he's the best horse in training.

However, sometimes for irrational reasons and you fall for a horse, and Saint Calvados just that! He is a thrilling sight to behold. There isn't a 'type' I prefer to see than a front running two Mile chaser and if UN DE SCEAUX turns up as well I'll be making the 4 hour trip to Sandown. That'll be 3 horses I love in the same race, and I won't be having a bet in the race if they all turn up because I won't need to. (As long as Sceau Royal doesn't won for Scooby)

If Altior dispatches them all readily, I'll compare him favorably to Sprinter Sacre. Big words.

Hopefully it stays gd to soft. Sceau royal might be pulled on soft. Or if he isn't he should be.

Only 4 declared for the tingle creek but what a four.
Altior v UDS v Sceau Royal v St Calvados

They'll get a nice view for Footpad there, UDS with Willie, SR under same ownership as Footpad, perfect for him IMO.
