Queen Mother Champion Chase 2019

Indian file:

Saint Calvados
Un De Sceaux
Sceau Royal
Altior

Where do we anticipate Altipr coming off the bridle? After the second last?

What a race in store. Glad Speredek isn't declared to be honest.

I think he'll be pushed between the last two and jump the last in front. Turbo kicks in on the run in to win by 8+ lengths.

SC's effort will be short lived IF UDS goes with him at the front end. Doesn't like to be taken on, as we found out at Cheltenham.

Altior to win, comfortably but standard being off the bridle 2 or 3 from home.

I had a dirty EW bet on UDS last night with PP 1/5 3 places. Do those place terms still stand even though the field is down to 4? Surely he just has to stand up to finish ahead of Saint Calvados? :devilish:

They still stand VK

Thanks FM - can't say it's ever happened to me before! I thought there might be something buried in the Ts&Cs to cover them for a field reducing below 5.

Fantastic race in prospect.

If I have a bet, which I probably won't.... the alarm bell that keeps ringing for me, is that I would (and did) back Un De Sceaux NRNB in the QMCC last season because I was confident he'd be the one to beat.

If age wasn't a factor (and to a lesser extend - first run of the season) I think I'd have had a bet on him already.

Un De Sceaux is unbeaten on soft ground over 2 miles, and I like 'filters' like that... at the price, he is the one I'm most likely to back at this moment in time.

Watch it :p

Sorry Kev, couldn’t resist! Looks like plenty of rain around the country tomorrow so fancy UDS might attract some support at current prices. Altior might even end up a backable price! Still expect Altior to do the biz but if he’s gonna be beaten then first time out against UDS on soft ground is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Part of me would love there to be a bit of a changng of the guard between Un De Sceaux and Saint Calvados - I just don't see how anybody wouldn't enjoy a horse like that. A bold, front running chaser over 2 miles.

Then again, Altior just picks them all off. What a wonder horse.

Only Sceau Royal can ruin my mood and if he does, It'll be incredibly hard to crb him - at this point you can't rule him out.

Instead of me just saying how much I like the race though.... how will each winner impact the market?
Currently QMCC

Altior 11/8
Footpad 5/1
Sceau Royal 14/1
Saint Calvados 16/1
UDS 16/1 (20 in 1 place)

A win for Sceau Royal, would they make him shorter than Footpad?
A win for Saint Calvados and he'll have scalped Footpad and Altior, but they wouldn't make him fav would they?
A win for Un De Sceaux will be put down to optimum conditions and his age would dictate he can't be fav, I'm not sure they'd make him shorter than Footpad even.
A win for Altior and he's odds on?

Anyone tempted to play the ante post market rather than the Tingle Creek?

Cracking race. I won’t be betting the Tingle Creek* as I think it’s priced up about right. Altior should be winning this, but there are valid reasons to think he could be beat first time up. He stays fav even if he loses but if you fancy one of these for March (SR) it might be worth playing now. As I said previous I fancy Great Field but would like to see him out soon.

*I do have a pre-season ew treble running onto St. Calvados here so will very much be rooting him home

Great Field must be going to the Hilly Way?

Altior
A name I'll still remember in 40 years time.

Atrocious conditions there.

Sceau Royal & Saint Calvados not in the same county as Altior. Un De Sceaux gives Willie a good indication for the chances of Footpad though, and ran his usual brilliant self.
