Pertemps Network Final 2019

Think I'll be investing a couple of points on First Assignment

I doubt I’ll stray from Notwhatiam and First Assignment.

First Assignment has good C&D form and has been progressive this season. Has form behind Paisley Park and was then placed in the Warwick qualifier as well. He’s now rated 142 which will get him a run and certainly stays the trip well.

I'm very close to adding First Assignment as well. Only 1 real qualifier of note left...in Ireland

Dawn Raider for the one and only Mr Kelly has an entry this weekend. Needs to go up to get in but oh what deja vu

Notwhatiam has been hanging out the back of handicaps all season and was never put into the race when he qualified at Warwick. His mark could be borderline at 135 but this looks the target as they’ve run in two qualifiers (fell in the first try).

I spent a good while looking at this race yesterday.
Am I right in thinking, if Skelton wanted to put notwhatiam closer to the pace, he could do?
He seems to be putting him right out the back, and just doing the bare minimum to qualify and keep his mark low.
But he's obviously been running at a lower level before.

Although the horse had a natural running style of being held up, it seems to have been exaggerated in his races this season (check the Twitter abuse Skelton received). To me this screams that they’re happy with his current mark and only wanted to qualify and not win at Warwick. Like many I’ve been following Glenloe the past two seasons and he was always held up during the season. When he eventually made the Pertemps Final he suddenly raced up with the pace (convenient huh?).

I’ve said this before but betting in Pertemps Qualifiers should come with a health warning.

Love Notwhatiam for this. Watched all qualifiers back a couple of times each, and this horse is definitely capable of improvement if running closer to the pace.

Still 25/1 NRNB with Bet365

Gone in on this one today. 3.5pts e/way @ 20/1 NRNB. The similarities between this one and Mall Dini / Presenting Percy are quite staggering, both of whom were aimed at over 2m 4f before winning at the festival and rated around the same mark give or take a lb or 2. I suspect this wins at the weekend in order go up the required rating and will be backing it to do so accordingly also.

Also suspect good old Davy will be in the saddle should it make it to the fez.

Mall Dini and Presenting Percy were respectively rated 132 and 130 for the Gowran race compared to Dawn Raider on 123. They were also a year earlier in their hurdling careers and had run in about half the number of races so were less exposed.

Presenting Percy was giving a 16lb hike by the English handicapper for that win over 2m 4f prior to the Pertemps. Dawn Raider is already 128 in the UK. If he wins in Saturday he gets in, if he doesn't it's NRNB anyway.

Best of luck and nrnb is obviously sensible. I was just pointing out that Dawn Raider doesn't really have the same profile as the other two.

I’d say he not only needs to win but win well. He needs a 10lbs hike to be comfortable I reckon.
