Neptune Novices Hurdle 2017

Has anyone heard about Peregrine Runs target?
25's for this and AB
A bit of a forgotten horse...
 
I seem to remember the Trainer saying , it depends on the ground , think the horse prefers softer ground , but he would prefer to run in
the al bart.
 
I thought he'd be going Albert Bartlett but quotes after seemed to suggest Neptune or a handicap and good ground as people have said.

Really interesting horse! The kind of horse that'll be tipped up when a target is known because of his early season form.
 
Yes deffo. He's high on my radar and will be backing him as soon as he is confirmed.
 
Yes sorry, got that wrong , just re read the newsclippings bit of S/Life profile , and yes trainer says needs better ground , I have got him in a L.15 already ( al bartt ) , but sounds like it could be nep or even a H/cap.
 
Are we sure Neon Wolf heads for this, I'm keen to get with this one but there's a big difference between his market price and his NRNB price....
 
I would say it is about right to be honest. Not much difference with the horses around him, FO has between 1-1.5pts difference from his top market price , NW 2-3.5pts difference from top market price, Bacardys 2.5-4.5pts difference, MDO 2-5pts difference and so on.

NW actually has a bigger range for the Supreme. If he turns up I'd say it's this race currently.

Never can be too sure. I think this looks an easier race and they seem confident he'd get the trip. Ironically he might be better suited to the Supreme with that being the case... I have him at 33s NRNB in the Supreme so happy to take the 'punt' on the bigger price for this race personally.

I don't have a strong view on this race but hearing others speak in positive terms has swayed me to have an interest, and if Finians was to divert NW could well be much shorter than what's avaialble today...
 
Any idea what Elliott will run here.. I see the Storyteller is entered in the Martin Pipe too but will surely be over 145 in the Uk once weights issue. Death Duty will go AB.
 
Trainer Harry Fry is no closer to deciding which race his exciting prospect Neon Wolf will contest at next month's Cheltenham Festival.

The winner of an Irish point-to-point last spring, Neon Wolf made an impressive debut under Rules in a Uttoxeter bumper before making a winning start to his hurdling career at Exeter on New Year's Day.

The six-year-old maintained his unbeaten record in a trial for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Haydock last month and could either line up in the Supreme or the longer Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle at Prestbury Park.

"He's very well and came out of that Haydock success in good order," Fry told At The Races.

"He's got the entries at Cheltenham. We're three weeks away now and we'll wait until nearer the time before committing him and making up our mind which race to go for.

"Cheltenham do a good job watering, making sure the ground is on the slow side, but we've made no secret of the fact he's a big, heavy unit and he wouldn't want it to dry out too much, which is why we've reserved committing him 100 per cent.

"We couldn't be more pleased with him and as we've seen with Thistlecrack, it's a case of getting them there. That's the hardest part."

Was on the phone with Peter Fahey for 30 minutes today talking about his target (and some of his lesser horses). Peter is very tempted about the Albert Bartlett but has also entered him in the Coral Cup. He won't be running in any race if it's worse than Good to Soft. He's not scared of the Irish horses and is pretty confident the horse stays three miles with no problem. He travels and jumps well so that works for both races and he would easily keep his position over the three quick hurdles down the back straight 2nd time around in the Bartlett. I suspect he will be kept in both races at the five day stage and then see the weather forecast. He could get into the Coral off 141 or so and that would put his weight in the 10.8 - 10.12 range I would have thought; that would be difficult to resist.
Then again, a full field in the Coral (26 I think) is very different to the likely 16-18 runners in the Bartlett. It's a bit off a toss up. The horse is well and in great form.
Not sure that's much use - NRNB in either race would be my advice.
 
Very useful that BOF, thanks, with NRNB it's low risk though most judges/researches will say the over round is sky high and only becomes competitive when the market is formed at the 24 hour stage.

If stamina could be an issue/needs to be proved wouldn't they be swayed to take option which si run on the less testing Old Course ?

I must admit I was surprised he was taken out of the Neptune but Peter is adamant he will stay. On balance, I would (just) be leaning towards the Coral; his ability to travel and jump will be a great help and, yes, I think the Old course (which he won on in November) suits his style of racing.
