National Hunt Chase (4 miler) 2019

he'll get in the kim muir now though, if they want or need him to run.

thought champagne classic wasn't trying for the jockey myself.

Hasn't that always been the plan Q?

Probably
But was given too high a uk mark two runs back when entered up at Cheltenham .think was 147
Ireland handicap dropped 1lb last run then today’s run should see further drop

Add another one here

I have a pt any race at 18s. That I knew was rubbish for a long time.
I have no faith in him. But the funny thing is he'll go off shorter than that in the Kim Muir anyway. As he'll be seen as the plot of all plots. When he's just shit.

Good lord, Blow By Blow is just a dope isn't he.

:highly_amused:

Or maybe he doesn't stay 3m, isn't a graded performer or wants softer ground.

I suspect whether it's one or a combination of them things you will see him in better light.

Well I hope so CoD...

but right now, you could only back him on the mantra that he's some sort of mega plot job (which he could be)... but I'm more cynical than I used to be (look at me talking like I'm old)

1 pt ew on every previous festival winner is profitable...that's the only 'system' I'd cling to. Every other fibre tells me he's not shown the improvement I'd hoped over fences and up in trip.

I still think he was priced high enough for that to have been a good bet, but I don't fancy him anymore.

Oh, I agree 100% Kev.

I've said for some time now that he has no worthwhile form whatsoever over 3m+ and he has continued to show that since. I know many got in bed with him for this race because Gordon said it was his target, but I actually don't think he is slow, I just think he is racing over too far a distance, and with the exception of the last twice he had run OK in the two Grade 1's (of which he is not that class) and the Grade 2 which he only lost by a neck and over a trip more suitable.

Time will tell. I still have him as a bet, and as noted in the Handicap thread, for the Brown Advisory Plate, a trip more suited to him. Road To Respect was hammered in the Ten Up Novices Chase prior to winning the Plate. He won off 145, Empire Of Dirt won off 142, it will be interesting to see what BBB is given in Ireland after that performance over the weekend.

Those who have followed this thread will know I was a massive BBB fan and a strong fan of his for this. That has diminished over time and I am now eating humble pie as i'd give him little to no chance in this now. If he were mine I would send him down the Brown Advisory route. Chuck him out in front, positive/aggressive ride, blinkers on, cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Would love to see Mister Malarky come here. Looks made for this test to me. Stamina in abundance and cant see it out of the frame.

I'd say the top three in the betting are classier and potentially 170 horses in future.
But he stays really well and will be rated up with them now,
Jockey choice will be a problem I reckon.

Welcome to the forum.

One of the SL columists has put him up as a bet at 16s I believe.

He isn't one for me, but Tizzard has a superb record with staying chasers (in my head at very least).

Jockey would be an issue though as Q points out. Who do you think he could attract?

Yes I cant disagree at all with that, especially regarding jockey bookings. I just think at the prices I would be taking my chances with this fella.

Depends on your 'style'/approach I suppose :)

Best of luck with him. Not ruliong him out, just others I prefer. Discorama at the same price would be one... not sure on the jockey either though. Jamie Codd :devilish:

Thanks Kevloaf.. appreciate the welcome. In Tizzard I trust.

Im hoping he's going Ultima route. Wouldn't you fancy the horse in behind him at the weekend (now Mcginty) as more of a stayer for this??

As Q points out, the top 3 in the betting would have a better profile for this race.

CT will be disappointed. In the post race interview he suggested he ran to 144, perhaps it was wishful thinking.!

Handicapper been cruel there.

Over rated the run because of the name of the race
