National Hunt Chase (4 miler) 2019

He was on my shortlist last season but the closest he got to the track was a couple of entries in some handicap hurdles at the festival. He certainly has untapped potential but I'm not sure he'd be going 4 miles as I had him down for two and a half to three personally. That could change now that he's a year older but his jumping was never the best and will need to improve a bit. The horse has a real engine though so one to definitely monitor.

Agree with this one I've been looking forward to since Hobbs stable tour last year. Reminds me a bit of Minella Rocco in his profile so could be a 4 Miler but could just as easily be JLT, but definitely one I'm keen to see.

BigChaang,
I Was really taken with how DW finished his race the other day. His battling qualities are well noted. Its a horse that I'll put on my list for this race.
some big stats that always hold up in this race. OR, age, 3 mile chase winner, trainers.

Good to see you back Doc., I really do like D.work , but I think he'll go for the R.s.a, also added Bacardys for this race -
Credit to Jono .And Blow by blow.

Blow By Blow has looked like a 4 mile chaser in the making for a while. I think Delta Work will be RSA bound. I have both to win any race anyway, and BBB at 25/1 for this

Really pleased to see Jerrysback running tomorrow at Cheltenham. Interestingly as of a couple of days ago he was unlikely to run - make of that what you will...

I've added him at 50/1 for this race with bet365. Agree with taylor that he reminds me slightly of Minella Rocco in his profile. I hope he's a much better jumper than him!! But if he goes onto to win this race i'll be more than happy :highly_amused:

I did a #requestabet on him to win the Steel Plate Novices' Chase and any race at the festival - got back 40/1 which is a dreadful price. I was half tempted to back him at 11/2 for tomorow and then if winning reinvest on the any race price (approx minimum of 70.5/1) but off such a layoff, on his chase debut and in a really competitive contest it really is just a race to watch or at least with him in mind.

I get Mark Howard’s updates (as well as his horses to follow book) and he reckons Carter McKay could end up being aimed here by Gordy

He feels that Codd or Lisa O'Neil will ride, but it would be a worry until confirmed otherwise. At 33/1 though Ive taken the risk and gone round a few Corals this morning to get it on.

The race does look tailormade for him charlie. Declared to run in the Florida Pearl this weekend. Jury Duty ran and won in the same race before going onto this race

Absolutely tailor made. He was smart but not overly fluent on chase debut so be nice to see him get into more of a rhythm

Mr whipped would interest me for this race if they leaned this way

I think if he would have winged that final fence he could have won that race. Stuttered into it, landed on all 4s basically and then took a while to be stoked up again and him and Jenkins stayed on well.

Having said that if the grey had stayed up, he could have won as well.

He wants a good but further than today's trip imo.

I'd expect Count Meribel, Mr Whipped and White Moon all to be running over at least 3 miles come the end of the season.
Definitely think Mr Whipped will be straight up to 3 miles on next run and can see the liking for this race.

On Jerrysback - too bad to be true. The only positive you could take is he looked as good as Minella Rocco looked in his first few chases at the track! :very_drunk: I do find it interesting Barry made sure he finished the race when in most cases he'd of been pulled up.

Blow By Blow running in the Florida Pearl Novices chase on Sunday and the race can be a good pointer towards the 4 miler. Last years winner Jury Duty went off favourite under Jamie Codd and 2012 winner Back In Focus went on the win the 4 miller at the festival. There are probably horses that have run in this race that end up over shorter but those two recent winners caught my eye.

Definately. Not just for this race but it's been a race that's involved plenty of top class horses - Shattered Love, Presenting Percy, Disko, Don Cossack, Last Instalment to name a few.

That's a positive sign.

Blow by Blow has looked the one so far for those connections.

I'm perfectly happy with what I have on in singles but might add BBB in a multiple because the target is starting to look very solid.

16/1 a price that would tempt anyone in who isn't already invested?

I still think 16/1 is a fair price as there is still a risk he goes for the RSA. Certainly many worse prices out there.

I agree. 16/1 is a fair price. Personally, I think Gordon has 'classier' sorts to aim at the RSA. That being said, BBB is Don Poli esque in the way he races and DP won the RSA, so perhaps I have it wrong.

There is every chance he could be RSA bound, even more so if their other staying chasers don’t make the grade. BBB going for the 4 miler is probably dependent on Delta Work, Champagne Classic and Cracking Smart putting in some good performance.
