National Hunt Chase (4 miler) 2018

Jury Duty a non runner today.
Moulin A Vent an outsider.
Monbeg Notorious who is 12s NRNB looks like going off fav. Although not sure where he is being aimed at, if here at all.

I think mossback will win or go very close today personally. And hopefully on to the 4 miler. Want to see enough from Moulin au vent also who I want here.

I must admit if he was mine id get him qualified for the Pertemps of 137.

I really dont get why monbeg notorious is fav today.
Has he really improved that much beating a few handicappers? Hes technically well in at the weights, but I dont personally believe his rating.
I wanted to lay him at around 5/4 when dury duty was also running for me. But it could become a tactical affair now.

Fagan - 8-Y-O

Has to be one of my most consistent horses who is rarely out of the first two, he of course ran very well in 2016's Albert Bartlett finishing second behind three-time Grade 1 winner Unowhatimeanharry. His latest effort at Cheltenham in October was another second place, this time behind Black Corton who has been in rude health since. He holds two Festival entries; in the RSA Chase and the National Hunt Chase, our preference for him would be for the latter.

Nice to read that, been very quiet on Fagan for a while!

Jury Duty - 7-Y-O

Has always been a great horse to have but he's stepped his game up a gear this season and I have been very happy with him, his Grade 2 Florida Pearl win at Punchestown ahead of Shattered Love was impressive, he gives it all he has in the final stages of a race and always battles it out well. He ran a blinder in the Pertemps last year behind Presenting Percy and with the improvement he has shown since I'm looking forward to seeing more from him. Another with plenty to choose from with his three entries; the National Hunt Amateur Chase, the RSA Chase and the JLT Novice Chase - all being well he will go for the Amateur race.

Only has one Entry for the Festival Kev , In this race !.

I'm actually a bit surporised the story is "Monbeg Notorious being cut to 6/1" as a headline on RUK. He;'s readily available at 9s NRNB and having only just watched the race... I'd certainly be keener on Mossback if they met over 4 miles! He travelled better in to the race, and made up ground late on, the further they went the keener I'd have been that he got his head back in front!

I'd be tempted to add Mossback at 16s however.... ground a concern. Only had a run with good in the going once, and got pulled up, never really travelled.

I'm not familiar enough with the horse to know if they've ever made a comment on his preference but it'd be a worry given the number of runs he HAS had

jono informs me Elliott said before the race mossback "loves the mud"***

Although tempted with 365 as it'll be money back or likely able to cash out if the ground is good anyway!

Dounikos a big mover today. 5/1 with Paddy is nonsense!

Tizzard on Elegant Escape “He’s a lovely young horse. We’re leaning towards the RSA but if a top amateur jockey came available, that could change our minds.”

Arise Sir Jamie Codd!

Publicly asking for a jockey to come forward?

I'd like a trainer to have had it in mind before today I must admit.

Halfwit. Beggars belief you hadn't got a jockey lined up for your horse. Whatever must the owner think??

Ironic that the only person coming off as amateurish in all this is Colin himself

I'd imagine he probably has sounded a jockey out, but after what happened with Derek O' Connor...

To be fair to Colin, there are only a handful of top amateurs available and if he doesn't secure one of those EE will be at a disadvantage before they step on the track. Added to this, none of those amateurs have any allegiance to the Tizzard stable so it isn't a surprise that he's questioning which race he runs in.

Codd, O'Connor, Carberry, Walsh and The Dentist will all have rides for their connected stables/owners so it leaves CT with very little to pick from.

Id be gutted if they reroute EE to RSA , he taking on two potential top notchers so find it strange one tbf.

cling to hope they might have change of heart, Native River after all ran in it albeit different owners. Hasnt done him any harm long term.

Derek O'Connor jumped off Native River and (maybe) that cost NR the race. Everyone knows how important it is to get a top jockey in this race and it's unlikely EE would get one.

Perhaps Tizzard should give L.O'Neil or R.Blackmore a ring. I'd be happy with either. Lisa did me proud last year.

Ill flip it over and say this, its every jockeys life time ambition to ride a winner at festival. So taking that at face value ,they surely would want to ride the best available horse in the race. EE form taking shape , staggered they not banging on Tizz's door to ride him.

Who are "they" though TB. I can't see many options.

Codd, Carberry, O'Connor and O'Neil will ride for Elliott, JP or giggs
Mullins rides for Mullins
The dentist rides his dad's horse

Katy Walsh could perhaps be the one

Codd rode him in that PTP against Samcro, so does know the horse and I'd imagine O'Connor will ride No Comment for JP. Elliott likely will have a few entries but also has jockeys to cover them, O'Neil being one of them, so I'm not ruling out Jamie Codd jumping on board still.

I'd be happy enough if Mr Legg rode him, mind.
