National Hunt Challenge Cup Amateur Riders' Novices' Chase

There don't need to be many, there needs to be one. :)

But if he fell in his only 3M prep race then he can’t run in NHC.

This Christmas entry doesn’t seem to be a great pointer for a NHC plan. But who knows where “the Machine” will run in the spring?

Yes it does.

Ruby 'he'll stick at two and a half for the time being, Christmas and Limerick probably two and a half soft ground but I wouldn't be surprised to see him going a bit further when he gets into hotter and better races and the tempo is up'
Lydia 'can you see him turning up at the festival for any chase'
Naill Hannity 'Patrick Mullins 4 miler National Hunt Chase'
Ruby 'could be a possibility you know and why not. He's a genuine grade 1 horse, and the 4 miler I think could have....yeh look if he was to run there he was 3rd in last years stayers and I think his biggest danger will be the second in last years stayers, Sam Spinner'

Think you're guilty of reading into this conversation too much charlie.
He was thrown a question and basically said "why not ?"

Even part of his answer is flawed cos he keeps mentioning sam spinner for this race and that won't happen as they're loyal to the jockey.
All he's doing is what us lot are doing. Musing and chatting stuff to death.

And he's right of course.
Why not ?

Cos he'll be fucking 12 that's why.

Got persuaded into backing him last season at 11, I can see what's coming next.

Not disagreeing that it’s out there that he could go NHC, but like the Pertemps, it’s a race you need to qualify for now, so if Faugheen was to leave his chance to qualify to the last race he runs before Cheltenham, then he needs to get round in that race, or he can’t run in the NHC.

I’ve not backed him in anything, just looking to enjoy him, and wherever he goes I will be hoping for the best for him.

Perhaps. Playing out like he said so far. Yep, it was basically a 'why not', but then I don't think there's much else they'll go for at Cheltenham.

Sure he has to qualify. If he doesn't I've burnt a few free bets at 40/1 so no biggie

Faugheen obviously being mentioned for the Dublin festival next.
Aside from handicaps.
This leaves him the grown ups 2 mile, novices 2m, Flogas 2m 5f or the Irish Gold Cup ?

I wonder if he'll have a pop at the Cup ?
Flogas most likely I'd imagine.

for this race you obviously need him to try and be ambitious with a 12 year old.
Why not try and win the Irish Gold Cup I'd say.

If he does run in the Flogas, that rules out the NH Chase doesn't it as he hasn't run over fences over 2m6+ or whatever it is?

Yep. Think I'll be screwing my 3.6miler slip up ! Think he'll go JLT with Laurina dropping back into Mares .

Cc pushed back out to 10s after the race by 365 thought he'd have shortened myself.

He was 8s which a lot have shortened him too now and they've gone the other way.

Fair enough. They have their cashout market to consider I suppose.

Elliott says CC goes here

"He's run really well - it's the four miler at Cheltenham for him. Well it's not the four-miler any more, is it... but that's the race."

He's said that all season to be fair

Fair enough.

Not his decision technically but I'm on any race and for here so I don't mind the sound byte.

Elliott has done similar before though so it's not 1/100

Shattered Love springs to mind pretty quickly, which it would, for myself haha

Boom. My week is nearly complete. If CS or Sharjah win I will have another shandy.
