Marsh Novices Chase 2020 (was JLT)

Samcro has to come into contention but unless he's a couple of lengths up jumping the last you've got to expect at least 1 horse to out battle him again.

Samcro has to come into contention but Laurina's a hype job....i think they are in very similar positions myself.

I'd say Laurina deserves at least another chance.
Samcro has had plenty, and we can be satisfied he is truly a bridle bitch.

Where is he anyway ?

I'm not saying he isn't a hype horse but I've bought into the hype more with Samcro than Laurina. I'd say there's a lot more substance to his form than Laurinas.

My view on Laurina is they'll need to do some clever placing with her to get her to win outside of Mares company. Perfect example (if she's declared) being Sandown at the weekend away from the DRF out of the spotlight. Same can be said on her chase debut against Minella Indo over a trip which would never suit the runner up regardless of how you rate him. Not sure I really fancy her at the festival but it's hard to be too adamant in a race that could be thin on top quality.

There's definitely substance to his form, but also more clarity to his ability level.
Where she could still be special (just about)

Haha bridle bitch, i like that..my fear is fury road may become one of those! Ive noticed that with a few gigis now over the last few years they look like monsters but when asked for more they dont really find much, is this because gigi are gold cup obsessed?!

It's one of my theory's that they generally don't buy horses with many gears. Obviously they'll have some younger ones that are good enough, but a lot are definitely bought to just stay on at the same pace for ever.

I sometimes think that....

Then at other times I think he's clearly better than Stormy Ireland who is decent.

She also put Minella Indo away easily enough and he's not bad.

Enigma of a Mare really.

Last chance saloon over fences for her this season would be my (non-bullish) shout.

I did put her up NRNB for the Marsh though, still think that's the sensible bet before she potentially wallops the English Novice Chasers.... and if she doesn't, she'd be going for a Mares Hurdle IMO, where she'll be shorter than Stormy Ireland, cos she's better than her.

Laurina is a bleeder. Same with Itchy Feet for the Scilly Isles on Saturday. Good Boy Bobby 4/1 PP is great price for this. Long as he is entered of course

And wins

Yeah, just so happens theyve had some proper novice hurdlers this year just as they are thinking of winding it down

I think Good Boy Bobby is a real genuine horse, jumps and travels well and like many NTD horses will keep battling. My only doubt and the reason I’ve eased off backing him is the owners relationship with Cheltenham racecourse, they threatened to never race their horses there last year and have only run a small number since abandoning their stance so still not sure if GBB will turn up to Marsh Novice

Horses bleed for different reasons and in different quantities. Without knowing the cause there's no point in speculating on the treatment or on how successful it might be.

Laurina is declared for the scilly isles.

Be disappointing if she's not a better horse than Good Boy Bobby.

I can see why people will continue to be against her though.

Even is she wins the Scilly Isles there will be doubts about her stepping up to a proper graded race again.

I've got her back on side but I'm not blown away

I'll back her tomorrow. I'll evaluate for the festival after.

If she does have a problem with the bleeding then good boy bobby will take her to that place again and put her under pressure at the very least. When she checked out last time it was very early and was hardly asked for an effort so in truth if they get a repeat it probably will happen before the business end of the race.

I think Itchy Feet will be interesting tomorrow and am expecting a bold show. Won't be 33/1 for this if it wins. Has festival form, was impressive (admittedly beating nothing) on chase debut. You'll find worse 33/1 shots for the fez at this stage of the season.

Took Unibet's 4s when everyone else had reacted. Not going to lie, i wouldn't be a fan of backing a bleeder, especially NTO. 4s was obviously big as she would never be that if dec'd. So took it but won't be counting my winning.

Looks like Battleoverdoyen takes his entry in the Flogas on Sunday, I can’t see him at all for this trip at Cheltenham but get the horrible feeling gigginstown May shuffle their pack. Battleoverdoyen in the Marsh and then Samcro or champagne classic in the RSA anyone ?
