Mares Novice Hurdle 2020

I’m on at big enough prices but let’s not act like we haven’t seen this all before with unbeatable JP Mares

Apples Shakira?
Eptante?

2 in the last 2 years who were smashed in and flopped

Spot on HF
I got burnt on Apples at big prices but not Eptante

Gypsy absolutely being smashed across the board. Price being blitzed. Crazy stuff. Clearly she is unbeatable. I'll take it all back. Move over Mullins, we have a new kid on the block.

Given we haven't seen or heard a peep about her, I suspect that's all the praise she's getting on the early Cheltenham preview circuit, combined with the fact we've seen her jump hurdles and the form is looking good. She was cut the day Ruby said shes a weapon that will go off odds on for a Mares novice. She was cut the day ATR aired the interview with Kevin Blake where he said she should go to the supreme to take on the boys because she's that good. She was cut from 6/1 to 9/2 yesterday by B365 and the only mention I can see was Gavin Lynch tipping her up on the RP UTA podcast. It seems people are jumping on and responding to the language being used about her in previews, I could be wrong, but I suppose we'll see soon enough how right or wrong they are when she goes over hurdles this season

Gypsy Island was still on the go in May (Punch) so not hugely surprising she hasn’t been seen yet.
Irish horses can be trained differently to those in the UK, their biggest festival being in May often prevents seasonal reappearances until the Christmas period....

It's not that spot on really is it ?
It's hardly a trend that has any real foundation.
Other than some horses get hyped and then disappoint in the Big Race. And there's been thousands of those, no matter what sex or colours they race in
The 2 mentioned were with a different trainer as well.

So far less likely to have been sexually abused :devilish:

Probably also the fact that Concertista didn't very well yesterday, for all i think there are excuses there. One of the main contenders with the best UK hurdle form performing badly?

It's very small amounts of money, and almost certainly from the youtube tip from Lynch, added to concertista's run.
Also bookie slot machine tactics that we all know about.
If oddschecker could play a catchy tune we'd all be fucked.

:highly_amused: hahahaha

Agree but this feels different especially in this race and this early and, most importantly, without even seeing her this season. Think she must be special. Envoi like!

How long have you been into racing Lobos because I'm surprised that you think this feels different?

Right off the top of my head I can think of loads of hype horses for novice hurdle division that I would say are similar in at least some ways...

Finian's Oscar, Neon Wolf, Apple's Shakira, Angel's Breath, Annamix, Senewalk, Min, Samcro, Envoi Allen, Laurina

There are hundreds more.... Irving :highly_amused:

Some of the ones that came into my head did go on and win, some didn't win and some were flops?

I don't see why she's different in terms of hype. There always has to be one that gets hyped at least... every year.

Peter Fahey was talking about her during the week

Gypsy Island, one of the best bumper horses from last season and already a general 6-1 favourite for the mares' novice hurdle at Cheltenham, is expected to begin her campaign imminently, Fahey confirmed.
He added: “She’s in great form and is working well. She could be out in the next week to ten days.
“I haven't spoken to Frank [Berry] yet but there's a race for her at Punchestown and there's another at Fairyhouse so we'll see closer to the time. Hopefully we'll have her out before the end of the month.”

Thanks. I saw that but didn't think it was anywhere near enough to cause a plunge. Perhaps I'm wrong

Every word seems to move markets at the moment its a bit mad.

Lamarckise for example has been backed from 33/1 into 8/1 without seeing the racecourse yet outside of France. What was interesting was talking to someone who has a few horses in the yard last week and they see a good bit of the schooling and racing behind closed doors. They mentioned 2 horses that had taken they eye in the yard and she was one.

Can't remember who put her into this forum first but a very decent shout it seems!!

Saying that she will need to be decent to beat Gypsy!

When you see there’s a new post in ‘out of the festival’ thread - scroll down and see the name of one of yours! Brutal. May as well get used to it mind, it will happen again

That’s a right kick in the bollocks. Shades of Cilaois Emery and Le Richebourg from last season sighhhhh

Oh ffs. Been alright for non runners generally before that one but it’s a hit. Not ideal
