Mares Novice Hurdle 2019

I personally took the view Getaway Katie Mai and Relegate outstayed her at Leop. Keen and headstrong, i also thought the better ground at Punch suited her better.
Even on her debut NHF she travelled so well, and yet the 2nd was still gaining on her at the finish, that could perhaps have been Patrick not going all out, or her idling, but just a feeling..
I get the impression she'll be just fine this year over 2miles- however, given her point run on heavy, i could be entirely wrong.

If it wasn't for Mullins cornering the market with mares, I'd say that Lust For Glory will rank quite highly of the British based mares novices. Appeared to win with ease today. Previous winners of same race have gone on to better things
see it's already been backed.

Easy to get carried away with the Henderson mares who generally come up short in March.

Generally about a furlong behind a Mullins mare or two

Relegate blue almost across the board on Oddschecker.

Something been said?

See the highly regarded Epatante runs in the 12.45 Kempton tomorrow. Will a well touted novice hurdler live up to expectations, seem to have been plenty of disappointments these last few weeks.

Not sure what she beat, but she couldn't have done it any nicer IMO!

That was super impressive, loved the way she quickened after pulling all the way round, if she learns to settle she could be anything

Winner will still come from WPM. :p

Totally agree. She must have expended an awful lot of energy in that first half mile, yet the way she finished the race was very taking.

She's beat an awful bunch there very easily as you'd expect from a grade 1 aqps horse. (The 2nd is in my interpretation a 107 rated hurdle horse.) Not actually sure what she will meet down the line either as hendo has the other horse to set the bench mark in lust for glory, (epatante has more toe than her). the likes of posh Trish are going up in trip. So its hard to see when she'll get a proper test pre chelt. So she's likely only going to shorten further.

Agree with Scooby...beat very little i suspect there, nice turn of foot, probably expected from a AQPS bumper horse having won over shorter at a speed favouring track.

Will be interesting to see how she gets on though + could be anything.

Taking debut for the stable, jesus she pulled hard, hopefully they can teach her to race, but a nicely done.

I was very taken with Epatante today; she looked uncannily like Buveur d'Air after negotiating the last, and not many novices have that turn of foot. Not saying she's anywhere near that class, but the visual impression was similar. If they can get her to settle she looks like a serious prospect and hence 8s-10s for the Mares' Novices.

But does anyone think she could end up (providing she continues to progress) in the Supreme instead? That was a proper turn of foot, after all, and with a 7lb claim against the boys she would be of interest. She's blue on oddschecker for the Supreme as well as the Mares', which would make me think twice about putting a bet on, whatever the price.

I was worried about them switching her to the Supreme and have been backing her any race as a result at 14/1 as oppose to 16/1 mares nov. Her form today was a long way short of the Supreme but yes Ive taken that route as a safety net. She pulled like a train choo choo, she is going to have to settle much better to have a chance in either race.

Welcome to the forum :)

Ultimately, she'll end up in the race they feel she has the best chance of winning - I think the same connections would need to have more than one horse they feel they could win the Mares Novice race with, before sending one to compete against the boys.

I think more of the mares should, as the 7lbs they get is plenty, but I'd struggle to see too many scenarios where horses would go for the more difficult race.

Before anyone says it, there may well be a short priced Mullins fav on the day in the Mares novice - so you could argue it'd be "easier" to win a Supreme, but in reality, depth of a race should be considered and it's really unlikely the Mares Novice race ever stacks up better than the Supreme will?

That's my view anyway, I'd really struggle to back a Mare for the Supreme - the Ballymore and Albert Bartlett are over different trips which is definitely a factor though - it's just the Supreme I can't really see it.

Ah, in that case I'd definitely take the 14s if I was having a bet on her, despite my point about the Supreme above.

We have this every year and I mean no offence by it. she beat a horse you couldnt possibly give a rating higher than 107 to and was recieving 7 pounds, in particular Look at dame de compagnie, countister, (they would have won the same way today If they were ridden that way in that field) Wait till they step up to get a proper look at them, I get she was visually impressive but that victory is literally worth nothing And she's 8/1 already because she's in green and gold

Agree, price is too short by a long way. Trainer has been second best in this race by quite a way, so even if she's special, the Irish challengers will mean she's still a backable price on the day. I'd rather back at 3 or 4 to 1 on the day if she looks like she has a chance. Not at 8-1 with potential in November. Mullins clearly gets hold of stronger mares or develops them quicker at this stage of their careers (or has done up till now)
