Mares Novice Hurdle 2019

We have this every year and I mean no offence by it. she beat a horse you couldnt possibly give a rating higher than 107 to and was recieving 7 pounds, in particular Look at dame de compagnie, countister, (they would have won the same way today If they were ridden that way in that field) Wait till they step up to get a proper look at them, I get she was visually impressive but that victory is literally worth nothing And she's 8/1 already because she's in green and gold

Wasn't it you that was highlighting them last year :p

They both got mentions in One Jump Ahead didn't they last season, along with Apple's Shakira

I diddnt read OJA last year. And Dame de compagnie was 25s / Salsaretta 33s. Which was a big profit on cash out when she was still 8s but not coming out

I diddnt back the winner. Or even have a runner in the race last year as I cashed out on the bets I did place.

My main fancy was mystic theatre ew. ..... who sadly wasn't seen in the new year.

I think the fact BG did 10st 5lbs today says a lot about what connections think about her. The price now for the Mares Nov is terrible, but I could see her only getting shorter.

I think everyone agrees the form wasn't worth much, but sometimes you've just got to trust your eyes.

I haven't seen a more visually impressive performance so far this season.

Does anyone have any figures on BG lowest weight he's done last 3 years, would this be right on the his limit.

Might have done 10 4 but close to his limit. Sancta Simona sets a higher level of form but a could be anything horse. They are surely overdue a good novice.

Glad to have started a bit of a debate - all though it seems we are all enthusiastically agreeing, albeit in different ways!

Given WPM's record, agree that 10s for the Mares is no bet at all, but if it seems inevitable she goes to the Mares Novs rather than the Supreme then 14s any race has some appeal, as I'd also agree with CCM that sometimes you have to trust your eyes, especially for novices. What you're betting on is the ability of Hendo to get her to settle down, and he's got a pretty good record of that.

Probably on balance still not a bet for me at this stage, because 14s still seems a little short for something so speculative.

Thought I heard BG say that to get down to 10st 5lb he had to "Starve" for 2 weeks might have got that wrong and even if correct might still be insignificant lol.

Either way Im taking a bit of the 33/1 supreme to go with my 14/1 any race, thanks for the replies.

If you really fancy her for the supreme Add her to the exchange and wait. You'll get a lot bigger than 33s.

Yes good point Scooby, not saying I really fancy her, but 33/1 seems a fair price and if i can get better then ill take that.

Movewiththetimes is currently set to carry 10 05 the weekend in the BVGC. Wonder if he was getting down for that instead.

Le Prezien shorter for Sunday so who knows. From the blog

One that I have to mention is the Nicky Henderson-trained EPATANTE. I won a novice hurdle at Kempton on her on Monday and she was impressive. She was a little bit keen early and brushed a few hurdles, but she jumped better as the race went and she quickened well when I asked her to. She’s pacey filly and while her jumping will need to improve when she goes up in class, I think she will. It was an ordinary enough race, but you’d be hoping that one with her profile will be able to step up in class and climb the ladder.

One that has to be noted that goes against my bets and thoughts. The boys in the know have cut relegate into 6/1 ducking her. And pushed out chante neige from 8s to 12s
.
I personally think relegate deffinately wants further .
They haven't got colreevy in the market who Im keen on and personally think will be a better mare than relegate over a hurdle

However if you've backed relegate its a positive. As she could well have shown something decent at home. So will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Relegate is declared on the weekend over 2m 6
