Mares Novice Hurdle 2019

Up to 13 entries by 9 trainers so maybe WPM will have a few entered
 
Think Honeysuckle will take all the beating in that myself. Best of the Irish for me so far.

No Salsaretta either, but she's entered up at the DRF.

A danger, of course, but it's the same race Let's Dance won prior to the Mares' Novice @ the festival, albeit it is now over 2f further ( clinging on :highly_amused: )

Could be a possibility he’s holding back CN for next season like he did with Daphne Du Clos last year knowing he had Laurina up his sleeve.

I've always liked Relegate for this and this entry is encouraging. Not much love for her on here, but I maintain that her extra staying power is going to be an advantage. WPM will run something that will go off far too fast and set it up for her. Happy with my bet.

Decided to cash out for 5% loss, just in case something is announced and i’m too slow to react. 14s and bigger with Hills boost available so can always go in again if something changes

She's already been held back a season. I expect they'll find somewhere nearer the time where the grounds suitable ie melon. Sulilivan has a ridiculous ammount of talent with Willie that he's purchased for this so it won't necessarily be chante neige (I think it will be) but it will be something. All the entries for the Solerina have had a previous run. Looks like there still waiting. On the ground Luckily it's an easy race to win.

Willie would much prefer to run her in an open maiden hurdle than a graded mares race
 
If she doesn’t need to run against mares first time out there’ll still be plenty of options to get a run into her before Cheltenham

Archie, I note earlier in the thread that you, amongst others, thought that Willie's entries for the Solarina would be significant - or at least interesting. What are your thoughts now the entries are out? It's just that this has been a good guide to his horses in the past and now that certain buzz horses have not been entered it seems that it's significance is on the wane. I'm guessing that it's still ground related? I mean I have lost count of how many French breds have had a mention in this thread. Some we are yet to see and others have appeared and not particularly impressed. Given that Willie nominated the Mares Novice for Relegate at the start of the season and she has at least been out and been entered here, should she not be taken a little more seriously?

I'd say that it is purely down to the ground, past and current, that some of Willie's better mares aren't entered for Saturday. This race is still new so the stat that 50% of the previous winners have won the Solerina is perhaps less significant than it may be in 10 years time. I can't answer for Willie's rationale behind each entry although I am surprised that Robin De Carlow is in there. We know she's better over further and she seemed to hate soft/heavy ground so any conditions that would make the race more of a stamina test would not suit her.
As for Relegate, I'm not a huge fan and think that she'll need further than 2 miles. While you can argue that the same could be said about Let's Dance and, arguably, Laurina, I don't have her in the same class as those two. At the same time, it might be a weak year and the winner might not need to be so good so you wouldn't rule her out altogether at this stage.
 
Excellent news for Daphne du Clos fans...declared to run tomorrow.
