Mares Novice Hurdle 2018

I usually like to stay grounded when it comes to Novices but the fact that Henderson has entered Dame De Compagnie in the Supreme Novice trial at the weekend (intended runner) is a huge positive regarding her potential. Henderson would usually preserve his Novices unbeaten tags for as long as possible so to pitch her into a Supreme Trial at Cheltenham against the boys is a huge signal to her ability in my opinion. As long as she runs close, she's still my pick for this race.

Yeah I thought it was particularly 'ballsy' from that yard myself... JP a factor perhaps?

:highly_amused:

I think seeing how Lalor DDC and Slate House get on could be quite a useful piece of collateral form as we go through the season... hopefully :very_drunk:

Ainsi Va La Vie goes at Thurles tomorrow.

Not one of mine actually but they do think a lot of her.

See JP paid 300k for a French 3 year old filly called Elimay at Deauville on Monday. Might be up against it as a 4 year old for the race this time around, but she has plenty of experience for a young horse.

Mind you 300k doesn't even seem to guarantee you a decent horse these days!

She's a good juvenile. To link her into english form
She has form not far behind the 2 mullins juveniles chante neige/ stormy ireland.

She's been beaten by a very nice horse in whetstone who has been in and around Malaya.
Whether that was Malaya's true form carrying the double penalty behind gumball on her fist start over here, time will tell.

I'd definitely rate Whetstone a better horse than Malaya myself mate. She seems really progressive.

Agree though, so hard with these French collateral form lines, but she is certainly another one to watch.

Eli may also set to lose her novice status so would be likely to run in one or the other.

Ainsi Va La Vie did it well enough today but it's worth pointing out that this was 2m7f on heavy and Townend said she wasn't stopping. Last year's winner, Augusta Kate, ended up in the Albert Bartlett.

Ricci quite sweet on Limini and taking on AJ in the hattons grace (VVM might be in it too).

Gives Let's dance and Karalee a mention too...

Much more excited about the chaser Benie Des Dieux though it sounds

I suspect it won't be long before we see Salsaretta, after seeing all the 12-12.5's mopped up on BF Exchange. Currently only 9 on there now. Sounds like Ricci is really sweet on her, like he was Limini & Let's Dance last season. Hope she lives up to expectations.

I wouldn't be too worried if she didn't run before Christmas, as Limini didn't either, but it would of course be nice to see her out.

The difference is that limini and let's dance both had a run ad Soon as the new season for a novice starts to see what they had. And then put back away until the real races start.

Cap soleil back out this weekend, excited to see her again

Salsaretta will have to go some to remove Cap Soleil as favourite. She's rock solid for me, the fact she won on good to soft last time was the last question mark I had about her answered

Did really like the Cap Soleil hurdles debut performance, but as with all early season hurdles form I'd want to see more to say that the ground was the only unanswered question about her that I have. That final bumper run (at Sandown) form is nothing special, them horses she beat have done hardly nothing of any note since.

She's done nothing wrong to date, so can't knock her, but want her against some better opposition now.

I wouldn't be overly surprised if Countister overturns the form should they meet this coming Saturday.

I couldn’t find a chink in her form! Think it stacks up really well. At Sandown she only just beat Petticoat Tails and then Dame Rose beat Petticoat Tails 4 lengths. However Cap Soleil beat Dame Rose 11 lengths first time out on Good to Soft ground. I give Countister little chance of reversing the form, though you could argue it will be more of a test for Cap Soleil in likely good ground. She may not even run because of the ground I’d say

Would this not worry you for the festival then, as last 2 Mares' Novice Hurdles have been on good ground?
